Even if COVID weren't a factor, the US likely will medal in the w steeple, w1500, both 800s, all of the sprints, all of the hurdles, both shots, all of the relays, w hammer, w pv, etc. What's wrong that kind of a medal haul?
You are definitely right that the us will do well in the sprints ect. I was speaking strictly about the 800 and above. I should have been more clear.
i also agree that the us has a good chance to medal in the distance events you mentioned. However, in the recent past the us has also medaled in mens steeple, mens 5k, and mens 1500. I don't see them medalling in any of those. Probably not mens marathon either but I am honestly not sure who is running that among the african countries so can't say for sure.
