To be honest, not a bad result considering he was only a second behind Windle. Maybe not what he hoped for, but he should be getting stronger over this season with all of that mileage in his legs.
I believe CopperRunner is the winner of this contest.
Spencer Time was 1:49.76
Look for a shoutout from The Athlete Special on his channel or not.

This. The board has gone very quiet, must mean Spence did ok. Windle’s last 100m was poor, I don’t think anyone expected the gap between Windle and Spence to be so small. I imagine Spence will be quietly satisfied with this as his pro debut.

I think the main thing to take away from the race is that he competed well. Sat in 2nd to last through the bell, tried to work his way up, never got spat out the back and didn’t die

I guess not being biased payed off haha. It surprises me that some people thought 1:47 or faster and some said he couldn’t sub 1:50. I think without the injury he woulda been 1:48 mid to low.

1:48 high
I'm a bit less optimistic after watching him next to Windle in the video. I know he's a 400/800 guy and Spencer isn't, but he looks so much smoother/faster compared to Spencer. I'm revising my prediction to 1:50. Hopefully TAS doesn't experience any more setbacks after this most recent injury...

I mean is it that much of a hot take to say that a 1:49 800 runner is punching up in a workout with a 1:44 800 runner who has a World Indoor medal?
People just love to hate on here. Spencer is training to try to get the 1500 trials standard (3:37.5). I think 1:49-high (with a 1:49-low PB) in cold temps is a fine opener. Probably a PR in warmer temps. 1 second even off of Windle. That seems pretty good to me. Seems like a stronger results than some of his teammates in the 1500. He'll have plenty of opportunities to run fast this year.
I would love to see behind the scenes Trials content. I don't get the hate. He works hard, and he documents it. Because people watch, he makes some money. Good for him.

+1. All things considered it’s a race he’s probably not thrilled with but he shouldn’t be disappointed. Not far off his PB or drew. Has done very little work sub mile pace, and sub 5k pace for that matter, which is good for Spencer who has for a long time just run low mileage and two track workouts a week for track season, popped off one good race a season out of 5+, and then stagnated or dropped off. It’s clear endurance was a bit of his weakness. Like others have said, he’s def more of a 1500/3k type than 800/1500
