Has anyone tried deer velvet? Isn't that suppose to be an "all natural" hgh?
I have used EPO.
I had end-state renal disease (kidney failure) in 1999 and was on dialysis. I had a prescription (EPO is expensive as hell).
I had such a low hematocrit (tested as low as 17 percent once) that I could barely walk up a flight of stairs without stopping to catch my breath.
When I'd give myself a shot (with an inuslin syringe, and I don't recall my EPO dosage anymore), I'd get re-energized for a short. My prescription allowed me to boost my level to just below 30 percent. If blood tests showed a level over 30, they'd cancel my prescription until it was about 25, then I could have another shot, and so on.
Anyway, without EPO, I couldn't run more than about 7-10 minutes very slowly without stopping to walk and recover. With it, I could run very slowly for up to about 30 minutes.
For a well-trained athlete, I don't know what it would do. For me, at that time, it allowed me to have some semblance of normality.
It appeared to boost my endurance by a significant amount, but this was from a very low level due to my body not being able to produce or use red blood cells. I doubt this type of dramatic improvement would be as high for a well-trained and healthy athlete.
Ask Geb or Bekele how well it's worked for them. Or at least Hermens, Rosa, Kostre etc. They have tested it on different charges in their stables and seemed to have found some excellent responders.
Here is that article from Outside. Very good read.

Amazing article--worth reading through from beginning to end.
I'll stick with hard training, sleep, and healthy food. God thing I'm not a very good runner; it's a bad time to be an elite, worrying about all this stuff: who is taking what, whether it's worth the risk(s) to dope up yourself.
I've been inspired by Lance's long string of successes, by the way, but the article certainly makes you wonder. Overnight recovery? The drugs certainly facilitate that.
I've often lamented that I'm glad I was a 4min 1500 guy vice a 3:30 guy. With all the crap going on at the highest levels, it just doesn't look like fun.
How much would epo effect you if you took it for 2 weeks? Say 5000IU for each week for 2 weeks. Would you get a lot of extra red blood cells or would it have minimal effect? Is there a minimum doseage that you need to take before u see significant results?
I heard of this 60 year old masters guy from Eugene who is rumored to have started taking epo this only a few weeks before masters nationals this summer. This guy could run an open 300 in only 48 seconds, but within three weeks, he was doing 49 seconds for 300 hurdles. Go figure.

It may not be fun being on top, but most get much more sustained pleasure than being a bottom.
It would wear off relatively quickly, howeverthe volume you could do for those few weeks would help alot.
So HGH PILLS are can kill you??
8 seconds epo boost per mile.... 3:43 miles are really 3:51...........12:40 for 5k is really 13:03.........a 26:30 10k is really 27:30. incredible differances for the cheaters among us.

Why is it that people can go on and on about Cathal Lombard but any mention of Deeja Younquist and it is deleted. Both had huge improvements and both were busted for drugs. I understand throwing non facts out may mess with an athletes reputation, but why delete facts.
FACTS ONLY
1. Eddy H tested positive and is serving a 2 year ban.
2. Deeja Y tested positive and is serving a 2 year ban.
3. Teddy Mitchell showed a huge improvement during this time.
4. Teddy trained with and coached both Eddy and Deeja.

If anyone is intrested there is a good article in GQ this month about a minor league baseball player and how he got into the used of PEDs. He is VERY opena nd honest about it. GQ doesn't post their articles on the net, so you'll actually have to pick up the mag at a newstand and browse through it.

OMG, I just do not understand why my posts in this thread keep getting deleted. My feelings about letsrun are being drastically reassessed. Anyone recommend any other running chatlines? What do I have to do, write that EPO is good?
AGAIN, because maybe I like beating my head against a wall:
Anyone who cheats and "succeeds" hasn't really succeeded at all. You must take that to bed every night for the rest of your life. You must look in the mirror. Ovett said "I can look in the mirror and feel good about what I see. Some others cannot." Even a million dollars cannot buy this.
I am not an elite runner, but for 15 years I worked my ass off to try to break 4min for 1500m. When that finally happened, I was the happiest person in the world that night. Many years later I am still very proud of what I accomplished.
IF I had cheated my way to sub 4, I cannot imagine how empty I would feel then, and now. It ain't worth it.
Remember Ben Johnson after he "won"? Something was wrong there. He didn't seem thrilled.
Call me a dreamer, but I believe we all have consciences. If you cheat yourself, you'll always feel cheated.
OK, now you can go ahead and delete me again.
So some of your threads were deleted? big deal, two of mine were deleted from this thread too, but so what? The moderator was making a point that posts are not deleted based on certain people being criticised - see page two.
I agree with the rest of your post though Skuj.
I agree with the rest
