No I don't care about the nationality and the skin color of Ahmed, I like him whereas I don't like much the majority of American distance runners.
You can't argue against Jakob being in 3:30 shape considering his 4:50 2k European record and the massive negative split in this race. His 800 was pretty optimized thanks to his brother rabitting him the whole race, and a small positive split (perfect for a very slow twitch runner like him)
Here's what I get from ventolin's calculator for Jakob's supposed times :
800 1:46.44
1000 2:15.51
1500 3:30.0
1-mile 3:46.52
3000 7:23.30
2-mile 7:58.07
5000 12:47.83
10000 26:55.30
It seems pretty accurate to me, so it would put Jakob at the same level as Ahmed, but even if you adjust a bit the times you'll always get a 5k time under 12:55. Considering Ahmed is in his prime and Jakob is still improving (especially over longer distances like the 5k) I think it's safe to say that Jakob will be way better than him the next time they get an occasion to race together (2021 Olympics). And in the case of a slow race, it's even better for Jakob considering his 1500m speed, he can close faster than Ahmed's short distances personal best.
That's why I don't see Ahmed beating Jakob again no matter the type of race, and I'm sure you might not agree but I'm excited to see who was right.

How in the world is Jacob supposedly able to enter Daniel Komen territory in the 3k and 2 mile? The kids got potential but he hasn't broken 3:30 for the 1.5K and 13:00 for the 5k yet. He had a great 2k, and a respectable 800 this year, but I don't know why he's supposed to be able to break 12:50 in the 5k or even 7:30 in the 3k as if those barriers are easy and he's just guaranteed to get pass them...
I like the optimism but we can be a bit more realistic

Those calculators are rarely on point. No way is Jakob running sub 12:50, I'd give him 12:55 on a very good day. In a slow race, his kick might carry him to a medal, otherwise he's a mid-packer

Come on now...he was just 5th in Doha, leading the race with <150m to run. I understand your bias, but calling an 18yo 2x Euro champ “mid-packer” is a bit silly.

Why do people try to predict the future? Jakob could break his leg tomorrow and never be the same again. Or he could be in world record shape this time next year. Or he could completely stagnate and never beat his current PB's.
Some runners peak at age 20 or 21 while other peak at age 30 or 31. It's ridiculous to claim you know what timea someone is going to run in the future. Anything could happen.
