Funniest thing you have seen at a race

I am so pleased to read that Mr Obvious. I would have done the same. I'm sure I would have been in your group, at least that's how I have pictured it in my head, with the cop yelling at us and us yelling back, just as you described.

Saw this years ago at Penn State. I had taken our HS team up for the Spike Shoe meet and the day before everyone, HS and College, were working out or previewing the course. In one area near the start line PSU has provided a row of porta-potties. A young man from some HS goes in and forgets to lock the door. The Penn State women come jogging up to the row of potties and all but one of the ladies stands a respectable 20 or so feet back for the facilities. The one Penn State runner who needs to use the potty is talking back to her teammates over her right shoulder as she opens the “occupied” potty with her left hand. She is standing there holding the door open with this poor kid sitting there doing his business. She is still holding a conversation with here team and cannot understand why the rest of the team is falling down laughing. Her teammates are laughing and pointing and she finally realizes what is going on and lets the door slam. Well this poor kid has to finish up and then exit the potty with some 10 to 15 Penn State women still outside the door when he comes out.

While in college at Azusa Pacific, I was watching the 3000 steeple at our conference meet. One of the athletes competing was a Westmont runner named Livingood, I believe. Westmont wore white for there shorts. Some time in the middle of the race it becomes evident that there is a brown mark growing on the back of his white shorts. We reallize that he had crapped his pants and was continuing racing! Everytime he jumped into the water pit and the others behind him followed, we just cracked up laughing.

This guy is leading a region meet in my state, and as he's coming into the final 800m, a non-runner from a rival hs starts to mess with him. He's talking some trash and tries to run up and push the runner as he passes by. Bad idea. The runner decks him in the face as the other guy pushes him.

16 min pace x hard punch to the face = broken nose for this kid.

Just this past week we had our first cross country meet of the year. A new sophmore to our team who was expected to do pretty good actually POOPED in his running shorts 2 miles in a 5K race. I could actually smell it as i passed him. When the race was over you could actually see that poop smeared on his legs cuz the running shorts netting held it in. Although i felt bad for the kid i can't help but laugh everytime i think about it.

I did that when I was a soph in high school. I ran a great race and finished 3rd in an invitational. Luckily no one noticed.

I crapped in my pants and still won state.

This past cross season at a fairly large invite...I crossed the finish line and started puking, looked up to see some kid bent over on his hands and knees throwing up also...But I looked closer and saw that he had shit running down his leg really bad...he had bad diahrrea during the race and it splurted down his left leg...it gets better, as i looked again and saw that inside his racing short underwear was the actual "log" of shit!!! it was fricken nasty and i started puking more...best part of the story is when his coach comes over and they put it into a plastic cup and proceed to the nearest porta john...priceless

During my junior year of high school at Cape Henlopen in DE, one of the slower runners on the girls' team heard a teammate coughing and hacking a few meters behind her. So she stops completely, takes off one of her shoes, and produces a Luden's cough drop. She hands it to her teammate, who actually puts it in her mouth and keeps on going. Great stuff.

The pathetic part is that you got beat by this kid. NOW WHO'S THE LOSER!!!

In high school I ran in the JV meet that was held before the big varsity meet the next day, running the 3k was myself and a retarded kid who raced in bulky trainers and ran awkardly. Everyone was watching me slowly gap this kid to the point of lapping him. On the last 200 meters I start to pass him, as I kick he kicks as well. I have to go all out to "outkick" him. Most ridiculous thing ever. He finished right behind me and congratulated me on the win.

This past cross-country season at the DeSales Invitational apparently some jokesters went off the night before and spray painted all over the wooded section of the course. It got funnier the further you progressed on the course. First it started off with the names of everybody on the DeSales team and their nicknames. Then it progressed to "Poop" being written everywhere, like every 15 meters or so. Finally, the choads and tits started to be spray painted in combination of poop. You couldn't see them at all during the race, because the white spray paint didn't show up too well on the grass in addition to you running at race pace, but during the course walk/jog it was hilarious.

Later on in the course there are cornfields you run around, and you can skip the hills of them by making a left at one point which was cleary marked as "Shortcut."

One time I ran barefoot in a quad meet in HS. I was in the lead, and everyone was like.."GO BAREFOOT DUDE." Not as fun anymore once I realized I was DQ'd.

UCSD stopped the West Regional race after 6k when the couse was flagged wrong, then re-ran a full 10k it in scorching hot weather.

One of my team mates was running in a race which was 4 1.5k loops. Anyway he's running by about 100m after 3 laps and someone tells him "that's it 200m to go". On hearing this he veers of to he finishing straight instead of continuing on the last lap. He crosses the finish line, gets his medal and someone takes a picture or two.

While this is going on the guy in second keeps going on the last lap. Someone yells "Hey (name here) you've got another lap to do!" He goes "oh shit" and hops the fence back onto the course. By now he's about 150m behind 1st and running while holding the gold medal. In the last 80m, he finally passes the guy and wins the race(again).

Ranked 12th in the AA division of virginia senior year, moving up well after a ridiculous start, they threw the JV guys in varsity because they wanted to get the race over, the conditions were so bad. I'm the first one to fall, finished the race around 40th, got hypothermia, wasn't the same all season.

Gotta finish the race with ATLEAST 1 shoe on. It's the actual rule I believe. At least it was 2 years ago when I was in HS.

Once on a run I ran at a neighboring schools cross country course and I noticed a van parked in the woods down in an open field. Now, nobody ever parks down there so I was kind of confused. When I ran by the 1st time I saw two small kids playing on a blanket and no adults. The next time, maybe 7 minutes later, I saw what looked to be a lady lying naked on a towel by the kids but I just brushed it off. Then I went for the 2nd loop down to the area and she was standing up and naked. As I got closer she saw me and flipped out, covered herself in the towel. As I ran by I yelled that I was sorry I freaked her out while she was naked and when I got back to go by again the van was pulling away.

We had a girl in our HS that pee'd her pants all the time in track and cross country. The thing is, she was an 800m runner in track. During that race she pee'd all the time. It was awkward indeed. Then we found out that during cross nearly every girl on our team did it. I was a bit shocked.

Once at a big meet we had about 5 hours to our race so we bought a pair of girls running shorts that I put them on over my actual running shorts. They were super short and hardly covered me. We went into the bathroom and it was packed and I waited to use a stall. With everyone watching I went in and pulled down the 1st pair of short. My teammates "sneaked" in and stole them. Everyone thought I had no shorts on when I ran our screaming and chasing them while holding my shirt down. I chased them for nearly 20 minutes all over the course. People were screaming and parents were covering their kids eyes afraid I would let go and be nude in front of everyone. Some of them even complained to race officials that a naked kid was running around. Eventually my friends put my shorts up on a high pole and I jumped to get them. Everyone around gasped and then saw I had shorts on when I let go. They were all shocked. I went on to win my race and the best finish overall. While getting my medal all the kids in the stands and stuff were like "look! it's the naked guy! No...he fooled us! He wasn't naked at all!" It was pretty funny.

At the same race a guy on the team who was in love with this really cute girl on the team stood up and got everyone's attention. He then announced that it wasn't working out between him and this girl and that he wanted to break up publicly. She blushed so hard and everyone on the team laughed at her.
