Seems like a lot of schools announced new coaches today, including USF, Arizona State and Indiana State.

OU had two coaches leave (the distance coach that left was paid more than the sprint coach that left). Maybe they will flip that if they plan to become even more sprint-oriented. This could be the explanation if they hire a distance coach with limited experience.
Where did the OU designated female coach go?
Are you talking about Katherine Hoskins? Her twitter indicates she is still there.
Or are you talking about someone who only coaches females?
Thanks. Tough situation for those women. Hope they get a good replacement fast.
Definitely not
Huge coaching hires due to be announced in the west within the next 2 weeks. Not sure of the timelines yet because of administration processing. One hire will be understood and completely logical, which will cause a second hire, that will be inexplicable. Stay tuned, wish i could give more but not at this time. #teamchaos
Stanford hire? ya hat are you blathering about? Why be subtle on an anonymous board?

Is the old pole vault coach, Chris Smith, going anywhere? He coached a Pac 12 champ.

I was under the impression that Abigi was going to stay at UNC and that’s why Gabe had to look at Boston. I wonder why the change of heart at UNC...

Paul Spangler staying at BU.
Any rumors at UVA? XC preseason starts in a few weeks. Dunn going to take over permanently? Hire someone else as a director but keep Dunn as XC coach?

I hear Ondrasek is one of 3-4 being considered.

Anyone can take a HS freshman at 13 and make them better by 18. Literally anyone. Hell, the high school kid can do it on their own by simply running 5 days a week and hitting puberty.
Best distance coaches are high school? All college coaches do is recruit.
Statements like this are further indication that high school coaches are out of their league heading to college. If HS coaches were so good then why are no elites coached by them,?
A high school coach has the luxury of the structured home life and school hours. They don’t have to recruit. Recruiting is absolutely essential. The fact you think it is a negative only proves you have zero idea what you’re talking about.
I like the way you think.[/quote]
Coaching both high school and in college, this couldn't be more perfectly explained.

Pat mcGreggor also
Jenkins never gave a sh**about the distance team unless you were already an NCAA champion, he would come to maybe one meet, would barely cheer for us, didn't know our names, and we were never given new jerseys/gear like the sprinters/jumpers were

I've talked to Jenkins many times and know that he cares.
What students athletes fail to understand is that there is only so much time and energy for family, friends, coaching, one self etc. Coaches can't be everything to everyone. Especially some over entitled 15:35 5k male distance runner or the like. If you want a new uniform, keep quite and go work for it. Help raise funds, run faster. Ascending the pecking order. That's reality once you leave college. Our sport is and WKU specifically does not have that great of an operating budget. Be grateful you have an opportunity and place to compete. If you don't like then go somewhere else.
I know Jenkins puts in his fair share to make his program great. From an outsiders perspective, I'm a distance coach and agree with his model at WKU. I wouldn't invest in distance either. Even Kentucky isn't that great, the state's flagship school. EKU is better and the only way they can be better is by getting foreign kids.
What do you expect from him? To go to all your meets? Some of your meets? For what? Is his clapping for you for that 2 seconds you run by him on the cross country course going to really make you feel that much better? Recruits take notice of this, you should know if your program has a sprints, jumps, throws, distance emphasis BEFORE you select your school.
