Think economically. I know this hits many personally, I myself have an older mother with chronic underlying conditions, and some old friends, as well—but think about it.
When bubonic plague was the rage, how many octagenerians were there? How many with underlying conditions? People are now living supported, thanks to society—but society has been a step behind corona, unlike much of the flu. If we didn’t have so many living supported, corona would be no news at all.
But ok, we do—but those dying are no big deal. The numbers are low, and they are weak. In that sense, corona is no different than life in general—not at all. And I think people are starting to understand this. Sure there are some old people panicking because they don’t want to die anytime soon, and they have a political voice. How many children have died? Right. And they have NO political voice.
But people are catching on. We address the worst of it to smooth out the effect over time, to lessen the shock. Eventually we may all have gotten it, maybe in 5 year’s time. It is not the virus that is devastating, it is people’s reaction to it. Financially, some of that reaction can be blunted...but socially, not so easily.
