Rupp''s lead lasted about 1700 meters. He purposely seemed to slow down and then moved out to lane #2 once caught. Rupp has run 72 and 73 for his last 2 laps.

Right. The idea is for guys like True or Mead to chase hard, and spend more energy. Jenkins meanwhile, stays in the pack as it yoyos out to chase.
Net result is a disruptive pace for the rest, and a more even pace for Jenkins will result in some advantage in the finale
Rupp is going again. This time at 4800 meters. Not sure what the hell he is doing other than toying with these guys. He's a beast.
