And what is Smartrunnr's opinion of this?

Please post your strava link. I posted the only one I could find for him a bit earlier, someone had joined him on one of his 'marathon every day' runs but that seemed to be the sole public run of his. His fastest mile then was 7.55 and given his parkruns last year only reached 20' I would be intrigued to see him banging out 7mms in ultras? In fact on this one he slumps to double digit mms around mile 20

Correction, his fastest mile was 8.14, Strava gave that a GAP of 7.55

I've heard of 'never spoil a good story with the truth' when writing a book or newspaper article, but this is ridiculous, along with his other phony claims. The people coming on here to defend him why don't they address these instead of telling us what a good bloke he is?

I'm about to go out for a 3mi shakeout. Is that over/under how many total miles he has run on his trip so far?

Those were miles 290-350. The bit that has an 8 min/mile was post caffeine boost. Part of that mile I was running 7:15 and couldn't keep up with him. Never seen a transformation like it. He slumped again after that but kept strgulling on. And no, not in his RV, but sitting back in the UK following. As someone inspored by Rob, I went on to run the length of the UK last month - 885 miles at 52 miles a day (all on Strava and vids on FB)., and found it very comfortable, so, as a very average runner don't understand why everyone finds this so unbelievable Rob is a much better runner than me, so I have no doubt he has the capability of doing this.

As has been mentioned many times, people on LR didn't blindly start picking on this guy. A guy showed up to run with him and watched a moving RV with no runner. Same guy posted a video of RV rolling through town with no runner. Others have come up with several anomalies in his past events. His own story of the beginning of his running career is 100% impossible. Any of these facts point to the fact that he's a liar and is currently cheating on this run.

Yet his supporters come here and talk about the fact that he's a good guy and when he drinks coffee he can really fly for a short time. As a third party observer what am I supposed to believe?

Thanks Andy, perhaps you'd be the person to answer the doubts about some of his more outrageous claims as Kev seems unable too.

Maybe I am not looking at this correctly but this is a very slow run bordering on walk. All of this is well over 10 min to 15 min/mile. Only sub 8 min/mile is a complete down hill gradient. Am I missing something? Wrong conversion by Strava? Was this part of a mountain hike?

You can say that again

This was part of the longest distance covered on foot without sleep record attempt. The guy had just run/walked 300 miles, so no he was not running fast! What amazed me at the time was that sudden burst he had. There was a mix of walking/running/stopping so it wasn't speedy but this was through the night Friday and the guy hadn't slept since Tuesday morning.

This run with Rob only confirms that he is very very slow. What purpose does this serve? This is only a step above walking.

That was my reaction although I don't run ultras... has he made a claim about his average speed on the current trip, people keep talking about 7mph but those are 13 minute miles which is basically a brisk walk. I can't see a summary stat for the journey so far.

I found a third certified marathon that Rob Young ran.

Brighton Marathon on Sat, April 16, 2016 in 3:30:51.

(8 days before running the London Marathon in 4:02).

I don't understand why he seems to always blast his opening miles. According to these results, he ran his first mile in 5:23. Then hit 10K in 40:40. And things slow down precipitously from there on out. From 30K to 35K and from 35K to 40K, he was logging 30-minute splits for each 5K. I guess he had no one to give him coffee and sugar so he could suddenly start flying again like he did at the end of that 373-mile non-stop, non-sleep WR run.

He did the same kind of thing at the London Marathon. Why would anyone in their right mind run such crazy opening splits? 5:23 is around his 5K race pace.
