Your tennis ball analogy isn't proving anything because anyone who did that experiment would be standing on earth, where there actually is a force pulling it downward. In space that rule doesn't apply because there is no "down" or "up" and no external force pulling matter in either direction.

Well I have news for you, Dr. Science, gravity exists in outer space too, not just on the surface of planets. Hell even Newton knew that! You're several hundred years behind the times. It's a good thing you're wrong because the sun's gravity swinging Earth around is the only thing stopping the universe's gravity from pulling us to the bottom.

Have you ever wondered why science fiction films never show the people or ships upside down? And whenever the ship's engine fails it falls down to the planet to get entangled in an adventure with an alien culture. If there were no stars or planets to fall down to, they would fall to the bottom of the universe.

If you want a modern understanding, general relativity says that space is curved. Specifically it is shaped like a bowl. Everything in a bowl falls but mostly falls in the wrong direction so it doesn't reach the bottom. The Earth doesn't fall directly south because it also falls around the sun which falls around the galaxy which is slowly spiraling down like a marble rolling around in a bowl.

My uncle worked for NASA. He says it is not flat or spherical. He also says there is no South Pole. He says the earth has a very odd shape.

Care to explain the gravity that "exists in outer space"? What generates it? Are there any reputable scientists who believe this? And what evidence is there to support it?

Also, if Earth really is being pulled southward by universal gravity, why is it being pulled in this particular direction?

A problem for discussion involving a plane flying relative to a rotating Earth. In the problem were are a “stationary” observer watching the plane fly on a spinning Earth, so this is why the rotation of Earth is relevant. The problem is that the plane ends up with a greater velocity to the east than that of the north-south orientated runway that it is trying to land on. There must be some unknown force that can balance out these differences in velocities for ALL planes that fly east or west during their flights. How do we calculate this force? Where does it come from? The only way to get rid of the need for the force is to stop the Earth from spinning. If we can’t calculate this, the Earth does not spin. We are able to calculate forces and velocities for all situations throughout Physics. There cannot be an exception for this. The problem also looks at the curvature the plane would have to fly over to get from one airport to the other. It appears that the plane would have to constantly “nose down” to follow the curvature
