Perhaps Mr. Randall was Hartman's rabbit, and wore a few Kenyans and Ethiopians out, along with himself?

If you ever want to beat a pack of Kenyans, you have to lead a pack of them at some point. Perhaps your attitude is part of the reason that an American hasn't won Boston for what-30 years? We should dominate this sport-or at least be competitive-but instead we've become a nation of underachievers-afraid of the east Africans.

People can't be this stupid can they? Randall had no delusions of winning that race, so why do you? He not only lead the pack he took the lead by 5 seconds at one point. And no he was not Hartmann's rabbit, or if he was he done a terrible job.

He ran out front to get on camera for a few minutes. KUDOS to him. Way to lead the charge for the American resurgence in the marathon. Thousands of high schoolers are now dreaming of running a 2:37 marathon.

I would give my left nut to run 2:37. Or to even break 3:00 again. Anyone need a nut? Please let me know.

That we can generate only two is pathetic. I don't buy the "Football dominates America." The people attracted to football, as a rule, do not make good runners. There a few hundred Americans above age 22 playing football. There are tens of millions of joggers/runners. Maybe, it's not race tactics-but our talent development tactics that are the problem. I agree with you-the sedentary nature of many kids today is a problem-but there are other bigger problems-I'm sure you can find a thread or two on LRC about the suckiness of collegiate running.

Yeah but how many Americans are born and live at elevation? Ryan Hall's success seems to support that being a big factor. Solinksy and Rupp we will have to see.

Yes, he was first masters finisher. Didn't know it until a few minutes after the race was over.
