WASHINGTON — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is angling to be Donald Trump's running mate in 2024, according to two people who have spoken to the firebrand second-term congresswoman about her ambitions. "This is no shrinking violet, she's ambitious — she's not shy about that, nor should she be," said Steve Bannon, the former top Trump aide who hosts the War Room podcast, where Greene has been a guest. "She sees herself on the short list for Trump's VP. Paraphrasing Cokie Roberts, when MTG looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back," he added, referencing Roberts, the late political reporter who worked for NPR, ABC News and other outlets.
MTG is going to make you libs poop bricks. She is the real deal.
read it and weep, America. this is one of the 5-6 most powerful members of the House.
We're doomed.
Marjorie Taylor Greene (born May 27, 1974), also known by her initials MTG,[2] is an American politician, businesswoman, and far-right conspiracy theorist[3][4] who has been the U.S. representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district since 2021.[5] A member of the Republican Party, she was elected to Congress in 2020 following the retirement of Republican incumbent Tom Graves, and reelected in 2022.[6] Greene has promoted antisemitic, white supremacist, and far-right conspiracy theories, including the white genocide conspiracy theory,[7][8] QAnon, and Pizzagate.[9][10] Other extremist conspiracy theories[11][12] she has promoted include government involvement in mass shootings in the United States, murders perpetrated by the Clinton family (Clinton Body Count), and 9/11 conspiracy theories.[13][14] Before running for Congress, she supported calls to execute prominent Democratic Party politicians, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.[15] As a congresswoman, she equated the Democratic Party with Nazis, and compared COVID-19 safety measures to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust,[16][17][18] later apologizing for this comparison.[19] During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Greene promoted Russian propaganda and praised Vladimir Putin.[20] Greene identifies as a Christian nationalist.[21] A strong supporter of former president Donald Trump, Greene aided and supported Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 U.S. presidential election and has since supported Trump's false claims of a stolen election.[22] She called for the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election in Georgia to be decertified,[23] and was part of the Sedition Caucus, a group of Republican legislators who unsuccessfully challenged votes for Joe Biden during the 2021 United States Electoral College vote count, even though federal agencies and courts overseeing the election found no evidence of electoral fraud.[24] Days after Biden's inauguration, Greene filed articles of impeachment alleging abuse of power.[25][26] On February 4, 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to remove her from all committee roles, in response to her statements and endorsements of political violence. Eleven Republicans joined the unanimous Democrats in the vote.[27][28]
The GOP is either stuffed full of morans or they think their voters are morans. THere is no alternative.
Here a sitting US senator is STILL pitching the absurd notion that the US would have higher tax receipts if it cut taxes.
Are R voters truly so stupid that they still think this and STILL want rich people to pay less in taxes? That lower taxes would balance the budget? Or do GOP politicians simply think their voters are that stupid?
Good gawd that party.
Rick Scott @SenRickScott Cut taxes. Grow revenue. Get big government out of the way. That's how we balance the budget.

GOP Crime Blotter
reminder that this senator is the Republican who likely committed all kinds of fraud and crimes in the private sector. He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars. No wonder he wants lower taxes on rich people. He stole his fortune from taxpayers, now he doesn't want to pay taxes on it.
During Scott's 2000 deposition, he pleaded the Fifth Amendment 75 times.[37] In settlements reached in 2000 and 2002, Columbia/HCA pleaded guilty to 14 felonies and agreed to a $600+ million fine in what was at the time the largest health care fraud settlement in U.S. history. Columbia/HCA admitted systematically overcharging the government by claiming marketing costs as reimbursable, by striking illegal deals with home care agencies, and by filing false data about use of hospital space. It also admitted to fraudulently billing Medicare and other health programs by inflating the seriousness of diagnoses and to giving doctors partnerships in company hospitals as a kickback for the doctors referring patients to HCA. It filed false cost reports, fraudulently billing Medicare for home health care workers, and paid kickbacks in the sale of home health agencies and to doctors to refer patients. In addition, it gave doctors "loans" never intending to be repaid, free rent, free office furniture, and free drugs from hospital pharmacies.[38][7]

There are a lot of people that genuinely believe that we need to relieve the top 1% and corporations of their tax burdens and that will make things better. The rich people will create more jobs, or they'll have more money to invest or something. The people who advocate for these types of tax cuts are the people who will benefit the most from them and they spend a lot of money funding propaganda to convince the middle class that cutting taxes for the rich (but not the middle class) will actually be better for everyone. I don't know enough about the economy or taxes or whatever to properly argue about whether or not their plans are good or bad (and I doubt many here do either), but the obvious self interest is off putting.
Durham report ends up finding nothing of course. Expect a ton of of similar nothing from the GOP. Hey maybe the GOP congress will look into the durham report as an obvious weaponization of the federal government.
NYT:
WASHINGTON — It became a regular litany of grievances from President Donald J. Trump and his supporters: The investigation into his 2016 campaign’s ties to Russia was a witch hunt, they maintained, that had been opened without any solid basis, went on too long and found no proof of collusion. Egged on by Mr. Trump, Attorney General William P. Barr set out in 2019 to dig into their shared theory that the Russia investigation likely stemmed from a conspiracy by intelligence or law enforcement agencies. To lead the inquiry, Mr. Barr turned to a hard-nosed prosecutor named John H. Durham, and later granted him special counsel status to carry on after Mr. Trump left office. But after almost four years — far longer than the Russia investigation itself — Mr. Durham’s work is coming to an end without uncovering anything like the deep state plot alleged by Mr. Trump and suspected by Mr. Barr.

The Trump tax cuts resulted in higher tax revenues. The only people who don't benefit from tax cuts are the 50% of Americans who don't pay taxes.
The top 1% of corporations pay enormous amounts of taxes. Morons claim that Amazon pays zero taxes when they pay over $2 BILLION in payroll taxes alone every single year.

Any comment on Biden's new chief of staff's history of medicare fraud?

You recently tried to argue that the $2T stimulus among other things paid for itself in higher tax receipts, which is even worse

The morons at Brookings completely ignored the growth of the economy which was triggered by the tax cuts. They admit that revenues increased but argue that they would have been higher assuming the same growth with the old rates. This is an idiotic argument. Without the tax cuts the growth doesn't occur. The entire point of tax cuts is to inject capital into the market and grow the economy.
repubs went straight from 'we're only banning books in school libraries'
to
'we're only banning books in public libraries and yes we will imprison librarians'
Books containing “sexually explicit” content — including depictions of sexual or gender identity — would be banned from North Dakota public libraries under legislation that state lawmakers began considering Tuesday. The GOP-dominated state House Judiciary Committee heard arguments but did not take a vote on the measure, which applies to visual depictions of “sexually explicit” content and proposes up to 30 days imprisonment for librarians who refuse to remove the offending books.
The bill, which would prohibit books depicting sexual or gender identity, proposes up to 30 days in prison for librarians who refuse to remove banned titles.

ah yes the 'the US would have no growth but for tax cuts' argument.
I do loathe you, adult, but you do amuse once in a long while.
You just cast aside generations of economic history at will, because you heard Rand Paul and Paul Ryan tell you some lies.

"He built his wealth partly through healthcare companies that were forced to pay tens of millions of dollars to settle allegations of Medicare & Medicaid fraud," New York Times reporter Kenneth P. Vogel wrote on Twitter.
