give me more info on this? where is it so i can throw some mouldy gels at them as i overtake there golden boy
Around mile 24.5 if you must know.
Nick Bester just shared on instagram that over 120 members of Best Athletics are running the marathon on Sunday. How is that even possible? Has his club just got way more members than others? It’s seems extremely high.
Everyone's moved over from Sweat Elite since Matt Fox didn't top up the API credits for ChatGPT.

Can't quite help lying can he.
Just checked the tracker and their are 96 Best Athletics running London

Not to defend the guy but some might have signed up before joining or not put a club down. Even so, 96 is also a lot of runners from a single club right?!
Meta Endurance's Alex Filitti -- who was noted in this thread a while back for seemingly attributing a subpar Tokyo Marathon performance to officials not allowing personal bike support onto the course -- detailed his Boston Marathon gear haul at the 1:05 mark.
Had no idea influencers got so much stuff. Pair of shoes, jacket, shirts, beanie, socks, stuffed toy, singlet, etc.
Retail value of his haul has to be around $500 at least. Assuming these gifts were given to other influencers as well, seems like the accusations by some people here that brands spend a ton on influencers may more correct than the detectors say.
Philly releases a video that highlights she's had a brilliant training block.
A goal of 2:23, top 3 Brit and GB vest consideration for the championships.
Whether she does it or not, there'll be a 14 part series about it incoming
Thanks for summarising this. I just tried to watch the video - her style of building up to the big reveal is an infuriating trick to increase watch time.
She has a shot at top 3 Brit. Think there are only 5, and I don't think Holly Archer has aspirations of sticking with the elite women.
Going to be fun to see if she gets 2.23! Think one of her goals is the B standard of 2:24:00. However, UK Athletics will only take people who can be "competitive" at the Worlds. In reality, none of the UK women are that competitive at world level! Let's hope Elish can be!

I should have noted that Adidas may have covered at least one dinner as well.
As others have opined, do the brands see enough of a revenue bump from these videos to recoup this level of marketing spend?
Probably not. But they have filed their marketing departments with people who say that "exposure" on social media is better than adverts on old skool media such as tv/radio/magazine
And in fairness it probably is!
I only know that Boston 13 is released (sort of) because it was featured by several of the reviewers. I guess my shoe outlet would have told me in an email in the end. But its not like I go into my nearest Adidas shop regularly.

Phily seems quite bullish about her goals and the shape she's in. Hope she can deliver, think she will find it tougher than she realises without any male pacers to run with.
It's also looking hot on Sunday, I don't know how well she runs in the heat.

Yeah her videos are absolutely painful.
That video could've been done in two minutes.
The top 3 Brits comment was low hanging fruit, agreed.
If a few runners have a good day and a few are in the 2:26+ range she could be in for a very long solo run.

Yeah I saw an interview with Holly Archer saying her A goal was 2.33, B goal 2.35 and C goal 2.37 (iirc), so definitely won't be mixing it with the big guns, more just testing the marathon waters to see how she goes.
Nick Bester Strava update - he posts a ‘couple of learnings from this training block’ (he goes on to post 5 things so not sure he knows the definition of couple) but I think the most interesting learning he writes is

To get the million bucks they likely dropped on Boston influencer marketing back, Adidas would have to sell somewhere around 60,000 shoes they otherwise wouldn't have assuming a profit margin of 10%.
Who is the softball player in college who was running half marathons and marathons and had great abs
I think she ran Boston last year or in 2023. I liked her race review and haven’t come across her videos since. Is she still posting stuff on YouTube?
caitlynmillerfit on IG. I think she posted something about a sacrum tear a while back(might have torn something else), didn't know she had it at the time, went to the chiropractor and they made it worse(naturally). I think she's recently back to running and building mileage from what I saw.
Caitlynmiller_fit. She's sponsored by BPN. She doesn't post much to youtube.
Why does is it no surprise she's sponsored by BPN. She's the epitome of hybrid fitness influencer. Worse than Phily, in many ways! Just an instagram feed of pretend off the cuff selfies and pictures of her eating food.
