Milesplit's coverage has been... odd, to put it nicely. For pretty much all the regions. I gave up paying attention to their commentary/opinions a while ago, but gave them a shot checking out a few of their videos and articles and decided it was worse than ever. They seemed woefully uninformed.

yes, they publish more lists which has less meaning than anyone, the one positive is the report results which are easy to find, so you can look at the data yourself and draw some sensible conclusions from it
Just ran at the Eagle Island course today. The course is the driest I have seen it in the eight years I've been coming. Should be incredibly fast tomorrow.

For the girls he predicted (1) Summit OR, (2) North Central WA, (3) Jesuit OR and (4) Boise Senior ID. He said at least one team should get an at-large bid. Are you seriously saying this is woefully uninformed?

Milesplit CA is embarrassing. They want you to pay for pictures parents of competing runners take as well as merged race results. They also like to coincidentally do rankings right after Rich Gonzales releases rankings on his site. Their coverage is really bad and the editorials are worse. I still visit their site because the other coaches in our league all get a good laugh out of it. They recently claimed a team won our league that got second because the Milesplit hacks are too dumb to understand how to read results.

They have regional or state specific guys, who in some cases are pretty good, in some cases not so much. The National guys are also a mixed lot I think too. I frequently disagree with the Milesplit 50 lists as well, for example they have FM girls at 2 and North Central somewhere outside the top 5. FM just has not looked as strong as some of the other teams so far. A top 6 teams, but I have not seen them as #2.

I think that's a reasonable prediction that they were able to make based off of their compilation of Meylan's speed ratings. That doesn't mean that they are informed about the teams they are discussing. Was their commentary throughout the season informative for you? From the videos I had seen, they had some general ideas about most teams (that can be easily gleaned from looking at results for 3-5 minutes, or 1-2 minutes by glancing at Meylan's speed ratings) but they were missing some details and/or context on others they would discuss.

Speed ratings for NY States out. Saratoga ran 143/138/137/129/128/128/125, or about what their last race was, and lost FM ran 156/149/140/136/122. Tuohy ran 165.

Then when Hart went to the right to pass, Dudek moved clear back over to block her again. Dirty racing. Run to the finish. Don't cut people off.

Both ran great races. Would have been slightly faster if they hadn't been doing that dance down the homestretch.

Hart gave it a game effort coming back from 10 meters down. I have to rewatch to see the last 100 meters.
Also, NXR Northwest Girls Championship just started!
NW Open Girls results -
Summit OR's JV won with 54 points over North Salem OR's 187. More importantly, a 19:17 average for the Summit JV on a pretty challenging course! That probably would have qualified for NXN as an At-Large team if not AQ team 10-15 years ago. North Salem averaged 19:44.
5 individuals under 19:00 in the Open Races, including two from Summit (18:38.0 for #2 and 18:56.9 for #4). Fastest girls was St. Mary's Academy OR junior Fiona Lenth in 18:31.6. For reference, Lenth was ninth at the Oregon 6A State meet in 17:46.0 and ran 4:46 for 1500m in track this spring.

NW Girls Championship - 2k Split
Thorvaldson continuing to crush it, 6:25.4 at the "2k" split
Chase pack led by Fiona Max (Summit) ranges from 6:39.8-6:41.5.
Also in the chase pack: Kate Peters (Lincoln OR), Lexy Halladay (Mountain View ID), Allie Janke (North Central WA), Julia David-Smith (Issaquah WA).
Mattalyn Geddes (Twin Falls ID) is about 3 seconds back in 6:44.7
BTW, though the courses are different...
MW Girls leaders went through 1 mile in about 5:16 and 2k in 6:39.
So Thorvaldson would be about 15 seconds ahead of the MW leaders early on.
Midwest course is low, gradual rolling hills throughout.
Northwest course is fairly flat for the first mile, with the mile split in the middle of a couple hundred meters stretch of sand, and there is a significant uphill the runners climb shortly after. The "2k" mark on the course is on the downhill, not sure if the timing pad is on the hill or at the bottom of the hill.
