Well-trained athletes mean "well trained" not "not well trained". You will learn to comprehend better when you finish high school; but maybe you'll need to settle for a GED.
The reason why athletes have thyroid problems is mostly due to overconsumption of protein derived from animal sources. That means they eat all these hormones the animals are treated with and also the antibiotics. Kara could have easily continued to perform on highest levels without any medication as suggested by Salazar if she had eaten a well balanced PLANT BASED diet.
But I guess that steak was too tasty? Payback's a bitch.

i am a 70 year old runner. not great but ok, a 2:32:12 marathon in my late 30s. i love running as a way of life but of course find it harder and harder. i am saddened by the comments here as i don't understand what evidence there is against NOP and Rupp. My understanding is that a coach now at Houston saw a medical prescription for something that sounded like testosterone for a 14 year old Rupp. he has no actual evidence and in fact Salazaar has given a rebuttal that makes equal sense. I have not hear one word out of Goucher that is evidence of anything but slander. What is the evidence? I think she has other issues as the timing of her comments on Saturday show a high degree of bitterness. What has she said can be examined? She spouts generalizations like a politician that cannot be examined as there are no specifics.
Meanwhile, people keep cutting down a runner who is by far the only really competitive male athelete we have in the country at 5k and 10k (not knocking others but the difference between a fast time and winning a world class 5k is day and night). Rupp is close but maybe too old for the 5k. We should thank god we have such a runner in the US who has never failed a drug test. We may have to wait 20-40 years to get another. He ran a wonderful marathon in rough conditions and instead of credit has to sit by for more character assassination.
To think that NOP does not walk a fine line on the side of legitimacy in training is naive. NOP runners are competing against athlete's whose coaches and trains do exactly the same thing world wide. It is either legitimate or it is not. Period.
Except doping and USATF/IAAF impartial treatment of positives since the introduction of EPO changed everything.
Dope doesn't increase an athlete's ceiling, it helps them approach it better/faster.

Here is a thought I had to today.
Is it safe to assume that if Rupp was doping before the whole scandal broke, they would pretty much have to stop under the heightened scrutiny? That would seem reasonable. They have for sure are testing more out of competition etc.
Yet, his World championship time was comparable given the heat/humidity.
His marathon performance seemed quite decent.
So I would posit if he can achieve the same levels of performance now he mostly likely wasn't doing anything that would have gotten a ban.

There is a difference between direct doping and the gray zone. If the USADA cannot test for the micro-levels someone is using, or doesn't know about something new (like xenon gas), then the USADA has to resort to other techniques to catch a gray-zone-doper. Other techniques (testimonies) is how Armstrong was brought down. He was not brought down by direct testing.
