If you're going to criticize a 16 year old kid, do your research. He started out season with a 1:18 600 chasing down Ricks and Liggons. Follows up with a 4:13 full mile (2nd place) and 1:52 (win) indoors in Washington (same day). That was followed by his 1:49 800 that is on video so you can remove the "questionable" concerns which was followed by a 4:10 1600 and then a 1:52 tactical (but big) win at Azusa (going 58-54). According to PrepCal he has a stress reaction. According to 99% of the world this kid's 2024 season is a high school career for them. Any other enlightenment you'd like to share?
I don’t think anyone is criticizing the kid. He’s a clearly a huge talent. But I think it’s fair to speculate about a possible connection between the quality of the performances he was running in Jan/Feb and his inability to finish his outdoor season healthy.
When someone is questioning a time with nearly all meets being FAT or even being live-streamed and run on a track that has been required to be surveyed by USATF with all the national records set there the past three years (The TEN) and then also states "he's ONLY ran 4:10" that's being critical. Your point is fair, the other guy probably never broke 4:20 (so he's really not that fast), Hah!

Yes, he's only ran 4:10 because for a kid who practically solo'd a 1:49 in the middle of February, he should be running at least 4:05 right now.
He's 4:23 at Arcadia only proves my point. How can you go backwards that fast?

He did appeared injured after the mile at Arcadia, I watched that race and was there. I am surprised no one has mentioned it before. I hope he heals quickly and is ready for XC!
Chase Hansen was a no show for the 400 at his league finals.
The state meet this year is cooked
What even happened to the Oaks Christian team? They ran 40.9 last year with a team of ALL UNDERCLASSMEN and only 1 of them has run more than like, 3 races this year.
Also, if Chase Hansen is out then Dylan Ochoa looks like the favorite. I guess he probably was beforehand but I chose Hansen since Oaks Christian typically has a pretty good record at the state meet.
Seems like their team fell apart. So many events they barely contested.
They're down Godsey as well for distance who could have contested for 1600 or 3200.

Did you forget Holt Barker out kicked Jaelyn Williams at Arcadia? It's a toss up given Jaeltn Williams' slightly faster time but if I had to put my money on someone I'd go with Holly Barker.

Don't forget he had a hamstring injury a few months ago. This might be a good thing since it looks like he's getting sharper every week so he might peak when it matters.

True, but it'll be extremely tough to get back to where he was, especially in such a short amount of time. I don't expect him to be a standout at state this year sadly.
Sucks because I was really hoping he'd be the next best HS 800 runner.
Still have hopes for Ligons though. Easy 1:54 at his divisonal prelims. At this point, he's my call for the 800 state champ this year, you heard it here first.

Normally when someone picks a winner and says "you heard it here first", they aren't picking the runner with the fastest time. The only runners to have run faster this year are both no longer in the 800 for the state meet. He may have had some off races, but he is still the favorite. "you heard it here first" would be more like picking Cain Evans, who is only in his 2nd year of HS track, and has gone from 1:59 to 1:52 this year, and is relatively unknown because he races in San Diego. And in his first and only year of XC, he ran 15:34 at Woodward Park. Now that's a lesser known talent that could surprise.
