So the guy mentioned that he didn’t think that anyone from the Great Oak boys team was missing and saw this as a 5-deep team.
They were missing the Rodriguez brothers.
How do people not notice this? One of them was #1 in his grade every year at Great Oak.

Also, will the Rodriguez brothers be running at Woodbridge?

If Oakdale doesn’t beat any eventual NXN auto qualifiers during the regular season and end up getting third or fourth in the merge at the CIF state meet, it doesn’t bode well for Oakdale’s chances of getting an at-large bid to NXN.

One criteria the committee looks at during the at-large selection process is if the team beat any auto-qualifiers.

Aw, the kid has a lot of names and data to sort through. Can anyone really keep up with all the same last names going on at Great Oak (past and present)?

Post a nice recap of Woodbridge for the teams and athletes you think are notable. I’m sure the podcaster will skim this list post and can use your summary to pull any content you missed.

According to the Hoka link, that average is almost 20 seconds faster than what they did in 2019, when they were top 10 at NXN.

It's a long season though, lots can happen

I'm a coach with a team in CCS. Unsure if he is running saturday but I assume he will be running woodbridge. I think it was just a stress fracture but I didn't hear too much.

He won't be going to woodbridge alone anyway. Palo Alto has another team entered in the girl's sweepstakes.

Dana Hills was not doing as well at the beginning of the season as at state / NXN in 2019. They were losing to several non-GreatOak/NewburyPark CA teams. And those Hoka times were on Aug 30, 2019. And except for Danker, those times were between 9:50 and 10:00. This does not look like a #8 team in the nation. And since then, they improved so much that they got 8th at NXN.
One of Dana Hills strengths is peaking at the end of the season.

As predicted, no girls' team previews or rankings anywhere. Only boys. Still in the dark ages. Please don't post a link to a list of times and call it a preview or rankings.

Do you know anything about Dana Hills? Especially since they are being coached by Craig Dunn again, they really don't show their true potential and cards until Orange County Champs. Historically speaking, this is the mo of working through meets and time trials of Butler/Dunn coached teams. I would be scared if I were other schools.

To be honest, I was hoping you would would respond to my request to help pre-rank the Woodbridge girls. When you didn't respond, I was worried you didn't care either :)

To others, thanks for the few likes on the ratings post, at least I know somebody read it. But there must be someone out there who knows this stuff better and can make a top 10. It is more interesting to watch a race if you have some predictions to go against.

As one of the coaches I’m afraid my own bias weighs in on rankings. I was hoping ONE of the websites would stop ranking every division of boys and every section of boys long enough to do some rankings for some girls’ teams.

Where would Cathedral have placed at Cool Breeze if Fabila raced?

I don’t think they have any new transfers, but their number 6 and 7 guy (s) were their first ever xc race by the looks of it, so I’m sure they’ll develop through the season. I checked Fabilas Strava as it’s public, he has some good workout indicators, on there, such as 18x415m at 72 with one minutes of rest up at big bear. Maybe would’ve been 14:55-15:10 with Emmanuel Hernandez making up some time that their 4 and 5 lost. This is all speculation though. Not much you can do with that but just speculate. So to answer your question, maybe top 8? Assuming their guys all had a bad race.

DyeStat, MileSplit, TullyRunners and PrepCaltrack (SS) all have some rankings, even on a small scale. But if was enough to help me make the Woodbridge list.

You must have looked at the boys rankings. Honestly, would you trust any of these websites rankings more than your own (perhaps) biased rankings? Other than PrepCalTrack, which is the only site whose rankings seem to be plugged into most of the transfers, injuries and impact freshman, none of these sites are doing enough research to make a great list. And for national rankings, I understand because I don't even try that myself. I can tell by the comments on the rankings in this forum that there are plenty of people here who have a better idea of the rankings. That's why I asked for help here. Look at the Milesplit boys national rankings. Are you honestly anxiously awaiting the girls version of that?

If Milesplit really is done paying for California writers, I hope PrepCalTrack takes the step to do all of California more regularly, not just the Southern section. Regardless, Woodbridge is going to tell us more about California than any pre-ranking. It will also offer some interesting anchor data for Texas, Utah and Oregon.

It is all speculation, because it sure looks like not all the better runners ran this like an all out race. But as speculation, looking at similar runners, Fabila would have finished around 30th, which would have been a 162 point improvement, which would make their point total 275, which would be 8th.

Since they went 1st and 3rd, and 30th would be a decent result for their 3rd runner, the key from them is going to improving 4th and 5th placing.

I would say more like top 15-20 atleast, due to his 3200 track times. He beat most of the top 20-30 guys with only 1 month of racing, (3 races).

Dyestat ranked 5 teams in the entire state. The other sites are just links to this year's results which don't really mean anything yet. PrepCalTrack doesn't venture much outside SS.

why are you guys talking about cathedral? probably the most overrated team this season with and without their third guy. omar stop trying to hype yourself up and cathedral. besides emmanuel perez and hernandez, the team is average.

From that article, I see that Parra started running at 5½.

I separately read an article about Hanne Thomsen, and she began running in 4th grade. These top runners have been training for years and years. Kudos to them. Not easy to avoid injury and burnout, especially as they go through their teenage years.
