New director of newly combined program in place just learning to navigate the hiring process at an unwieldy state university. It’s a slow process.
Handicapped by salary budget as former head coach has accepted reduced responsibility role but not reduced salary. (I looked it up and it’s a big salary for an assistant coach).
They’ll find someone good. Just be patient.

What is the actual point/purpose of having an Associate Head Coach position? Is it just to give your buddy a title to put on a resume? I was on a staff once where we had a head coach (not director of track/xc), an Associate Head Coach for Mens xc, Associate HC for womens, and 2 different associate head coaches for Mens and women's track. I feel like you are either the boss/actual head coach or you're not. Why do programs have this?

Men’s distance - Forest Braden and Pat Henner were already mentioned. Good options. I’d add Vig, Ryan Cole, and Hakon DeVries to the list.
Distance assistant/recruiting coordinator- someone young and vibrant since this is a “young man’s game” as we’ve learned this week. Mike Rutt, Isaac Wood, Maverick Darling come to mind.
Sprints - Beg Kebba Tolbert to come. If he won’t, then go with Gabe. If Gabe is going to Boston, look at Michelle Freeman who will probably be out of a job at UVA with Fetzer “retiring”
I know nothing of the field events / ops people out there, so no recommendations on that end

One simply has to think college football and track are on par in admissions, to demonstrate that they have no idea what they're talking about.
