Who were you expecting Wetmore? Two of those coaches have NCAA championships. Gerard has actually won team and individual titles at Stanford. Granted they were leftovers from Lananna. Milt wasn’t a hot shot either. Stanford will hire the right person for the job and then the success will follow.

Gerard is the only one of that group who has the acumen to coach at Stanford, and to do so successfully. I'm surprised the administration wasn't more imaginative in the people they looked at. To end up with those final 3 makes you wonder what they were doing.
They'll make it look good though. JJ Clark won 2 NCAA titlesat Tennessee which looks nice in Stanford's press release. Gerard was the head XC/distance coach in Stanford's most successful season ever so the school would celebrate his homecoming. If it's one of those guys they'll act like it was an extremely successful search and that they got their guy. Appenheimer feels like a stretch though.
Gerard's bio says he was an assistant when Stanford won their first title in 1996. So they've won twice when he was there. Looks like he was at William and Mary between the two championships. He should be the guy. (That also means he must have left Stanford twice though)

Gerard has won at W&M and GMU a lot, and with director experience. Been at George Mason for over 10 years now so that’s not inheriting. Seems like an easy choice assuming these are the actual candidates
People on the actual team don't even know who the coach is, so unless you're the athletic director at Stanford, I highly doubt this statement is coming from a reliable source.

I apologize that was illegible. It was just announced that JJ Clark is the new coach. His background check has not yet been completed and it will be officially announced to the public in a few days.
