The Democrats' ONLY hope is that Trump is the nominee. This CAN happen, but if your party's hopes depend on one guy, they are NOT in overall good shape.
Getting 47% of the house vote nationwide isn't winning... That can get you across the finish line in already blue states like Nevada, but that's NOT going to cut it in 2024.
The GOP establishment refused to fund MA-GA candidates such as Bolduc, Laxalt & Masters. Cocaine Mitch preferred to lose the Senate than to lose his leadership position and I blame him and the RNC chair for those candidates losing their races. The GOP from now on has start playing the same game as the dems and that is to ballot harvest in the same states as the dems are currently doing. We need new blood to lead the RNC and to lead both the Senate & House. McCarthy & Cocaine Mitch are establishment swamp creatures who continue to destroy the GOP- they need to be primaried and ousted.
You are completely out of your mind. Bolduc? He's a bonafide nutbar.
The RNC actually did the right thing there...didn't put much money behind bad candidates. YOUR positions are what is keeping the GOP down, so good going.
Your stupid predictions of a "Red Earthquake" didn't come true because Americans are tired of nutbar conspiracy theorists and right-wing extremism.
You believe the 2020 election was stolen, so you have ZERO credibility. Since you believe Democrats successfully stole that election, what about the midterms? Did we steal that one too? Maybe we're just great at stealing elections. How can you ever win again since we've got this stealing of elections down pat?
Where you need new blood (and you're going to get it) is the head of the party. Donald Trump is a serial lying criminal and a moron POS. You can't attract independent voters with that poisonous nutbag. He caught lightning in a bottle in 2016, but we (Americans) have come to know him since then. He will never be elected to anything again.
The future of your party, if there is to be one, is with people like Chris Sununu and Larry Hogan. Decent people who have Conservative values who aren't a$$holes.
Your extremism isn't flying. Trump is responsible for three bad national elections in a row now. Time for you to pull your head out of your ass.
We have reached the time where it is ok and even beneficial to go against Trump. Trump-backed candidates got sh!tcanned in the midterms, while those Republicans who openly were against him did well. Not a risk to go against Trump anymore. He's poison, and pretty much everyone is treating him like that.
Regarding DeSantis (in addition to the fact that he is polling better than Trump), he already said regarding Trump, (paraphrased), "Scoreboard!"
The Republicans will come home to Trump. They have no idea what to do otherwise. The base demands it. Trump's big arms are waiting for Rs and Rs will apologize, call dems socialists, and go with their spanky.
Who are you talking about there? Murdoch has already turned on Trump, and he's not going to do a 180. Gingrich is pumping up DeSantis. Fox talking heads are being critical of Trump. There is election proof now that Trump is poison. The base? You mean the M*A*G*A base? The ever-dwindling M*A*G*A base?

It's over.
The ma’gas vote in primaries so they choose the candidates. M’aga gonna m’aga.

The GOP establishment put funds into OH, AK. This was a complete waste of money as these GOP races were fairly safe and Cocaine Mitch despises all MA-GA candidates since they will vote him out of the leadership position, that's how petty he is. He refused to fund Walker, Laxalt, Masters and Bolduc. He rather be in the minority to preserve his leadership role instead of being in the majority w/o a leadership position. He sabotaged every single MA-GA candidate running for the Senate and for that reason alone he must be primaried when the time comes.
I am glad that the GOP regained the House to at least slow down if not stop the majority of the Dem agenda.

I'd give him a D. Mixed congress, which isn't certain will test him, especially with the new norm of "when you have subpoena power, do it, whether it is good for the country or not."
The good:
* ended the war in Afghanistan
The bad:
* not enough time to see how his policies will play out
* using culture war issues to divide the nation (just like predecessor) without judgment or criticism
* caters to the progressives (gas goes up, next speech talks about "gender affirming care") as if these issues were settled because he won the office
* doesn't really have an identity; appeals to young voters by party affiliation more than anything
These are my opinions, not facts. And they are harsh. But I'm old enough to remember the days when we were actually critical of our leaders as a matter of healthy skepticism.
When rating Biden note that 2021 Econ growth was an astonishing 6% and in 2022 we’re heading for something like 3%. Right now we are probably growing at around 4%. and unemployment is at the lowest level it ever gets.
obama-trump era growth was in the 2% range. this is better .
all those numbers are after inflation.
once inflation subsides (and it is subsiding)…rock and roll.

Those are fair points. I've always been skeptical of unemployment claims, however, because of the basic fact that underemployment isn't reflected in that number. For that matter, a lot of unemployed ppl aren't counted, since (I may be wrong) the percentage is calculated by the number of ppl who are receiving unemployment. Fall off the roles, and you can be unemployed without affecting the percentage.
Now for some standard talking points: GDP growth can be deceptive. We are coming off a pandemic in which growth was negative. This matters.
Nonetheless, you seem to be very happy with the outcome of the midterms. I'm genuinely happy for you.

I can't imagine you believe anything you post. All the positive things you cite are illusory. It is the MSM/woke echo chamber. We are going to hell in a handbasket. The sky is really falling. We need Republican leadership to get us back to a sensible place. I long for the America of the 50s where being a white male did not send you to the back of the line.

Not even close... Economic growth has been (annualized) -0.6, -1.6, 2.6% annualized in 2022. It would have to theoretically be 12% annualized in q4 to average 3% for the year. Not happening.
Long-term growth will probably be in the 1.x % range. There are things we could do to boost that, but they aren't going to happen under Biden.

Much of your post seems reasonable to me. Although I think that you left out some positives (successfully pushing for widespread vaccination, which probably saved hundreds of thousands of lives and allowed the country to mostly put the pandemic in the rear view mirror...). I would suggest B/C - basically plain vanilla, which is what most Dems expected (I suspect).
Bolded parenthetical text in your post is something that I don't understand. Gas prices did not go up on a particular day. As such, it is difficult for me to understand how you determine which speech of Biden's was his "next speech".

I'd love for you to be right about the future of the R party. But why are you so sure that it's not simply a Trumpy imitator (e.g., Desantis), rather than the "regular ole' (R) politicians" you list?
Other random thoughts/questions:
- The last time everyone was sure that Trump was dead was after 6 Jan. That lasted a few days. This time, we're at about a week. Easy to think that it's premature to once again declare Trump's political death.
- If/when Trump is eventually sidelined, what do people think will happen, by and large, to his loyal base? Switch to respectable Rs? Switch to Desantis and/or other very Trumpy types? Or just go back into their trailers and stop voting?
