Hey now, easy there. I gave you guys credit in my previous post for your excellent work and I wouldn't say that there has been much hate directed towards Whiteblaze. Nobody here is attacking the individual posters on that forum. Some of us simply don't understand why the forum's moderators didn't leave it open for discussion, at least until Kaiha comes clean.

Believe it or not, this forum has done some great investigative work in the past to out marathon/race cheaters like Kip Litton, Mike Rossi and Rob Young, among others. However, trail hiking isn't really our area of specialty so I for one would welcome any Whiteblaze users to this forum to share their expertise on the Appalachian Trail. We are, however, mostly highly competitive individuals and seeing somebody cheat and claim a record that others have worked extremely hard for really rubs us the wrong way.

Letsrun has been described as the 4chan of running forums. This place is full of trolls but it can be extremely ruthless in taking down cheaters.

Okay so she definetly was in a car within the park which technically does not discredit an FKT alone.
She definetly skipped .25 to .5 during the guard rail incident.
But it is inconclusive wether or not she returned to the same spot and at what time.
It is also inconclusive to determine if she back tracked the .25 to .5 mile to the official trail to resume hiking, which if she did then she would have had to put in some big miles, which is thought to be around 50 mile world record pace? But that is heresy because we do not know when she returned back to the trail. If she hitched in and out of the park to buy cigarettes and eat, shower, socialize, do drugs, browse the web, etc and returned back to the trail after few hours im town and hiked again through the nigjt with little sleep then this guardrail theory wouldn't discredit her.
I still think she did not beat Karl but so far she is not allowed nor disallowed the FKT with present lack of data.
Anish, the one who she is claiming to also have beaten has never revealed gps data, but does have it still and released a near-finished route of waypoints for her record hike. This was released a few days ago on matt kirks blog. A year after her hike..
Anish record holds ground on merit alone.
Bertolli does not have the FKT on merit alone.
These are the facts.

From what I can decipher on the whiteblaze site, what you posted is "close to" the facts. Additional, slightly more salient facts include:

*Bedding down at a shelter roughly 9 miles north of the park at 10PM the night before, then resuming the hike roughly 6 hours later (her own account).

*First contact with Bill in the park roughly 10AM next morning, who then gives her a lift to the hostel, arriving roughly 11AM (all kinds of photo and video timestamp proof)

*The following morning, the owner of the hostel gives her a lift at 6AM to the guardrail dropoff , which is not exactly the spot where Bill picked her up, but is not far away

*That night she beds down at the next shelter (confirmed) some 50 miles south down the trail

*So from what I gather, the problem is the park itself. Apparently when you enter it either side the trail does a 50ish mile loop of sorts (lollipop or similar) out to the side. But the north and south entrances themselves are a short distance from each other = exceedingly easy to simply to cut off the park 50

*Given these dynamics, it has been determined that for her to have completed that 50, she would have had to do one of these things:

1) completed the 9 miles from the shelter + loop in the early AM prior to encountering Bill. This is where the American record pace for women for 50 miles would have been required (highly dubious)

2) completed the loop after being dropped off by the hostel owner the next morning. This would have resulted in a > 100 mile day (exceedingly dubious). According to the insiders, nobody has ever logged > 100 miles on the trail in 24 hours, not Karl, not Scott, not even a guy who just blazed a single day trail run who only managed 99

3) completed the loop after having been dropped off at the hostel, but before being lifted back to the trail the next morning. Witness/her own accounts about the hostel diversion have not even suggested this took place

Thanks for chiming in Warren, I for one appreciate your perspective on this. In that regards, can you provide any additional clarification on my comments above? I have not done the trail and am curious about the specifics of the park in question, and don't want to misrepresent anything.

Given that the whiteblaze thread is shut down, thank you Mr. Doyle for posting your perspective here. Good to know that the door is officially closed on KB's self-professed record. Usually, I think, the Appalachian Trail is a kind of healing place. In her case, evidently not. I hope KB finds the help she needs from other sources.

This is pretty far off in the details, not worth correcting point by point. So starting over:

Shen. Nat Park is about 100 miles long by trail. No looping, alternate trail (bunch of side trails but the AT is the thru trail), and more or less a straight path north-south. Look at a map.

The shelter she stayed at the night of the 3rd is almost halfway thru the park. Seems to be no argument about her staying here and leaving in the morning.

The place where the guy says he picked her up is 9 miles south of there, right about half way. This is the point of contention. It may have been further down, but it wasn't at the end of the park, because there's no way she covers that distance by 10am on the 4th. And he says it was near Swift Run Gap (halfway) and he's not a mental case like she is, and has nothing to gain by lying. She does. I think 10:15am is the time she used his phone. And his exit ticket for the park is 10:37, I think. So what do you think he did for 22 minutes or more, sit around with her at the park exit and hope she'd take her shirt off? No, they were driving south thru the park from somewhere in the middle. He drove her to the hostel in Waynesboro. No dispute on driving her there.

The next morning (6am on the 5th) the guy from the hostel drove her to the south end of the park. No disagreement on this point. Probably 45 miles south of where she stopped, which because of the disputed pick up point the day before, is the disagreement. Maybe less than 45, but not a lot less as explained above.

After that, who the hell knows?

That's the proven gap. Puts a big question mark on all those other 70 mile days.

Thanks for the clarification, wow I was way off - hard to follow some of the information posted out there (especially given some of it is intentionally fabricated).

So yeah, pretty crystal clear that a huge chunk of trail was skipped. No surprise there, just better clarity exactly how.

Nice try, but I'm not "you guys." I'm a long time LRC poster with an allergy to sanctimonious BS. Usually, I can keep my allergy under control. Unfortunately, I read this thread after reading yet more attacks on NOP for not getting TUEs for thyroid meds. I obviously snapped. A man can only take so much.

Maybe you personally haven't hated on Whiteblazes, but plenty of people here have. Just look at the posts above your earlier post welcoming whiteblazers. One of them says Whiteblaze was giving Kaiha her FKT. How can you possibly defend such nonsense? And these clowns are not alone in expressing their disgust for Whiteblaze. The last few pages are filled with indignant posts accusing Whiteblaze of "letting Kaiha off the hook" by closing their thread, while trumpeting the superiority of the LRC approach.

But in this case, the LRC approach added...nothing.

On the other hand, people associated with Whiteblazes crew put together a incontrovertible evidence that Kaiha cheated.

As anyone who reads the Whiteblazes thread knows, they closed the thread because they believed the thread had served its purpose. The goal of the thread was to provide people a forum for putting together, and critiquing, the various arguments against Kaila's FKT. Eventually, it became clear that William Moran had the best evidence to show that she was lying. At that point, the thread had served its purpose. All that was left was for people to speculate or vent. Since neither of those are useful, the thread was closed.

Maybe there's a lesson there for LRC.

The shelter where she stayed on September 3rd is roughly 45 miles from where Billie picked her up. By her own account she was at that shelter at 10:30 at night and was excited about getting 6 hours of sleep. She started posting at 6am on the 4th presumably back on the trail. Billie picked her up a little after 10am on the 4th, so she would have had to walk 40+miles in 4-5 hours. It never happened. Regardless of where he picked her up, she didn't cover the mileage. At the very least where she was dropped off the next morning, September 5th by the hostel owner at 6am was NOT where she was picked up. She skipped at least a mile and very likely an entire section of 30-40 miles. She did not leave the hostel to go back and hike. She was there from 11am on the 4th till when the hostel owner took her back the next morning at 6am. All of this has been verified. I'm sure there are other spots as well, but this alone discredits both her supported and unsupported record claims.

That is exactly the case. As a long time distance runner & hiker, I was following the discussion and considering to join the Whiteblaze site, but the overbearing and closed minded moderation of the thread changed my mind.

We are free to discuss things as we wish on the trails. I see no reason why an internet forum should be any different, as long as our discussions are helpful & considerate.

A major clue is in the trail name she chose before the "attempt". "Wild Card" in this case is "yellow-blazing", i.e. cheating. A ninja is an assassin. From the outset she either planned to, or resorted to cheating in order to "assassinate" the accomplishments of others who made legitimate hike-throughs. She is nothing more or less than a narcissist, an anarchist and a sociopath.
