Thorson 14:07, lamere 14:17 ish. Never really got off the ground. Wisco pacers screwed up. Hardy went 2:46 and then slid into third, was supposed to take it thru 3k. Sandvold was supposed to be the 14:15 pacer and dropped after 600m.
A slew of guys ran right around lamere, he might've not even been the second d3 guy.
Overall, I would be ticked off if I were the Platteville coach. Seems like wisco promised to pace if their young guys got in the fast heat and then reneged on the deal.
Don't know which is worse, not pacing honestly or attempting to stab me your girlfriend while drunk...

Yeah okay, lack thereof in this case. Hardy raced like the #*@ he is. Attempts to stab gf then can't even pace correctly. I wouldn't want a guy like that on my team. ZERO heart Mick.

Fast times all over this weekend.
Besides the obvious with qualifiers at UW-Platteville (which frankly was not all it was billed as), there were a few 5k qualifiers.
Molineux and Sealand from CMS both ran 3:47. IGC of SUNY-Geneseo ran 3:45. Pitone runs 3:46. Granted, it looks like they were all able to just follow a big pack, as winning times for most of these heats were in the 3:42-4 range.
1500 looks like it will be stacked yet again, as most of the returners from last year's final haven't really gotten after a fast one yet. Marquardt may not until Swarthmore, as last year he did a fast one this weekend but opted for the 5k at Mt. Sac instead this year. Could we be looking at 3:49 just to get into the field at nationals this year?
We'll have to see if all these fast times will translate to correspondingly good performances at NCAAs. Last year several of the early season 3:47s-8s didn't even make the final.
Where is nationals this year? Outdoor, I mean.

Jamie Norton, who is a 4:06 miler, will probably win. His 4:06 mile conservatively converts to an 8:55 steeplechase. He can certainly run that fast because he is a 4:06 miler.

Rumor has it Hale is out for the season with another knee injury. Makes sense, given the fact that he hasn't raced since Natties. Even if he does race, I wouldn't hold out hope for anything stellar coming from him this spring.
