Rain doesn’t matter that much in the 400 unless it’s like a hurricane (it isn’t). Someone is still going 47 or close for the women. Should be a very fun race.
People forget how tough it is for US athletes to peak twice for nationals and then for the championships, which are in Tokyo in humid conditions.......
it's funny how much of a big deal US T&F fans make when they're not winning

But they did it extremely well last year. This year, at least for the men, has been absolutely dismal. Can't imagine the 5,000 will be much better...
lol what an absolutely disastrous WCs for distance running Americans thus far. I thought we had a great shot at MULTIPLE medals in the distance events between Nuguse (then Koech & Strand), Hocker, Fisher, Young, Hiltz, Brazier, Hoppel, and others and now our hopes lie with....Fisher doubling back? Burrito Houlihan?
Houlihan is destined to medal after all of this isn't she haha
Unfortunately yes, I do see the sarcasm bent of the universe making that happen.

This year Worlds are mid Sept. Last year Olympics were beg / mid August. It’s hard to maintain such a long season
So did Hoppel and Brazier think that “rail running” would work for them? Very disappointing!
Tactical messes.
Hoppel yes. I think Brazier tried to push to the front a little too hard, then ended up jostling, probably was worried about a DQ if he did much more, and then ended up pretty gassed because of how fast the final went. Unfortunate series for him but not a mess, just circumstance that the other dudes also wanted to go out hard and front run like he did.
GOLD AND BRONZE FOR BOTSWANA. Kebinathipi could threaten the WR in couple of years. Impressive silver for Richards from lane 3. The US will be underdogs in the relay.
