That's not saying don't do it. But a bit like the super shoe discussion in the Strava group. Not doing it won't make your legs fall off or injure you so you will never be able to run again.
I wonder whether you running at a decent level whilst 15-20lb overweight has been a good substitute for weight training and resilience for yourself now you've presumably shed it. Obviously you had your initial injuries but you also got your tendons used to handling much heavier loads. Now you've lost the weight you're much stronger for it. I guess tangentially, how much of your progress do you put down to your weight loss? I guess that's very hard to answer as you're attacking from both sides (more CTL/fitness, less weight).
