Yeah, Newsom isn't a good candidatefor the Dems. He's a California liberal and will likely push more independents to conservatives. Republicans seem to be stealing a good portion of the hispanic vote as well as the young black male vote. Newsom doesn't help the dems win either of those back.

here's the thing.

America is all about show business. America understands media and glossy, and it wants to be entertained. It doesn't want to be lectured to about policy.

Newsom can be media savvy. he looks like a movie star, is sort of glamorous and can talk. And he's young. Just 55 years old. Will look great compared to ancients trump and biden.

As for how CA has done....righties like to laugh at the place but it is a mighty colossus that has done extraordinarily well. Its economy has soared. I think most people know that - all the Rs can do is point and laugh in the shadow of its gigantic success.

Is he too liberal? Few vote on policy so I don't think that will stick. As long as he can stay away from talking about lbgtq and race/ethnic issues then he should be ok on that. Not a given, but I think he understands that he can't go all campus PC and win a national election.

I agree with some of your points, however, I think that the media works so hard to play up the more liberal members of the democratic party that it might be hard for Newsom to ignore them and still get the nomination. The more moderate democrats don't get much air time.

Dems are about to take a shellacking in the midterms due to poor policy, people vote policy even if they don't realize it. America isn't happy with the policies enacted by this administration and it will show in the polls tomorrow.

to be fair even if the Dems lose they will almost for sure turn in one of the best mid-term elections in many decades. The ruling party always loses a lot - almost for sure the Dems will do far better than any other similar example.

So it's wrong to say that the Dems are failing. They aren't.

the senate is just a tossup...hard to predict that one. Will be close. I wouldn't be surprised at 52-48 Dems or 52-48 Rs. If you put a gun to my head I'll predict the Dems win the Senate but that's basically a coin flip.

I'll also predict that DeSantis does not run for the nomination and Trump gets the nomination without much of a fight. If he is a free man and not in jail or in some kind of lengthy law enforcement procedure.

If Biden runs for reelection, trump will be reelected. if it's newsom....then I think Newsom wins.
