HR: when will you start your racing season for 2008? How is your weight and health, overall? I'm praying and cheering for you; for a successful 2008 season! (hope to see you at Carlsbad, which will be my 1st big race of the year, though I will run several smaller races leading up to it, to get used to racing again since I haven't raced since August, when I hurt my knee).
I have already started in the begining of the year.I ran in January 1,2008 at noon the meet was held here in Albuquerque,NM Gil's Runners Shoe World. It was a 4 mile race.My time was 29:29 minutes,so for this year I have one down for this month.
Oh! next month, perhaps in California, who knows, I might hit one in the begining of February,2008 as mile time trial in Santa Rosa,California.

Evening section 30 minutes exercise weight training + 21 minutes dry sauna.
About next month master cross country is up to my sponsor. I am going to check with him, then I will let you know right? Am I ready for competition yeah of course I ran 4 miles in January 1,2008 in 29:29 minutes, and it was cold as hell. The time could been way better than that,I could have six minutes pace per mile.
Henry
that's the great thing about cross country. no time pressure, just out there competing against the course and fellow runners. no one cares about the times so much as courses differ alot. hope to see you there!
Da!! Henry, please come to XC race in San Diego. Tell sponsor is great opportunity to race with other masters who appreciate you. Is serious race but no time to compare against, just pure race. I think you sell some books too!! I buy one.
Is great opportunity, do not pass up. Young, old, doesn't matter, everyone know and respect Henry Rono.

I did 28mwp + 40mhc + 13mcd =81 minutes in the morning section.
Evening section was 32 minutes on stairs master + 15 minutes strength exercise weights, then sit in the dry sauna for 25 minutes to kill the fatty acids in the core area.
The reason why I am using weight exercises is to get the body in uppers to turn lowwers go faster as the old days. And it is good for my old heart too to get younger.Bingooooo!!!!!.

Henry, you are correct to do some weight training. While it really didn't matter to us when we were 20 or even 30; as masters runners in our mid 50s, now; some weight lifting can and will help us keep our strength up, that just running alone won't do at this point.
