What level are you coaching at? What jobs are you applying to, if you are someone at a small school/ high school you are probably not getting the Oregon job etc. unless you have mad connections. Maybe you are reaching a bit with the applications you know. I don't know but 2 at 13.5 is impressive. Applying EVERYWHERE. Can’t get an interview for ANY D1 job and even D2/D3 interviews are scarce. Was at a smaller D1 when I coached those guys (recruited one, inherited the other at 13.8). Also had 3 other guys qualify for regionals in 110H. 8 total regional qualifiers in 110H alone in less than 7 years. And that’s just ONE event...[/quote]

You are probably lying. In the last 3 years only 4 guys from non-power 5 schools went under 13.6. NCA&T, UC Irvine, Youngstown State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A&T’s head coach coaches their guy and he could have lots of P5 jobs if he wanted them. Youngstown only has had the one hurdler. So if true (probably not) you’re either from Irvine or UWM—I doubt they had multiple guys but even if they did the last one was 3 years ago. And schools aren’t that impressed with regional qualifying. All easy to check on TFRRS.

Questions: 1) is this level of turnover “normal”? 2) if so, does this turnover (or expectation of turnover) naturally delay recruiting until late summer/early fall?

1) yes, high turnover is normal. Coaches are always looking for the next best job opportunity (Power 5)
If you are selecting a school because of a coach you are taking a big risk. The coach better be the head coach, or be there for a long time. Don't fall for the "I'm not looking to go anywhere." Coaches are getting "recruited" too by other jobs. Coaches are searching for the best job just as you are searching for the best school.
You are in control of the recruiting process as the family, not the coaches. The only way the school is in control is if you are over reaching and hoping for an offer from a place that isn't showing you significant interest from the start.

Here’s a great idea: STAY AT THE SCHOOL YOU CHOOSE!
I'd begin with common sense and communicate with those currently on staff.

I don't know how common it is for JUCO coaches to make the the jump to Division I, but in the last decade or so, the head coach at Barton has had 4 assistants, by my count, who have moved on to Division I assistant jobs.
You want to be DI, go start your career at Barton for two or three years.
.....and in other news, Private Universities and colleges in Illinois are thriving, because they don't have to answer to public money.
Dominoes have to start falling soon. Stanford and BU especially. Cal and UNC assistants too. Come on athletic and HR departments!

The short answer is yes to both of your questions. A good reminder to choose a school for the school...not the coach. It is highly unlikely the coach that recruits your daughter even now will be there through the entirety of her career.

Great advice. This is very normal. Of the 10 serious official/unofficial visits my son did, 4 of the coaches were gone before he even got to college for his first season. School first, teammates next, facilities and coaching after that.

Agree with these points. But I think the poster is asking about the recruiting process, not so much decision making. The answer is that yes, coaches leaving can delay recruiting and even derail it for a few months until a replacement gets established. Best thing to do is have multiple options, contact the director to reiterate continued interest, and email the new coach as soon as hired. In the case of schools like Yale, which I think one of the posters was asking about, assuming they get someone in place soon, they can still set up official visits in September and figure out admissions support prior to the ED deadline. I’d worry if nothing has happened in a month.
