The closing kick really doesn't say as much as people think: Do you think Bekele would have run much faster than 26:17 just because he closed in 57? Probably not, these guys can shift gears much more easily than the average joe even if they have more fatigue.

It was a good race today, Kejelcha and Kamworor ran great too, not too much tactics honestly, fast from the gun, so the overall result is probably very close to their real value.

It was a good race, and Farah made that 13:00 look remarkably easy. He just did enough and even in the home straight he hadn't opened out to full pace. Just checked he was in front and then celebrated. Nobody had anything that could even test Farah today.

He ran 3:49 waiting behind the leaders until the last 100m to effortlessly go pass them. Its easy for him, he is in great shape. If goes for a fast time in the 1500m paced through 800 in 1:51.5ish he can at least 3:27. He ran 3:28 in 2014. He ran 7:28 in the 3k in doha this year again waiting behind the leaders until the last 100m. He is probably in 3:26 shape right now, and 3:26 is insane, only 3 men have ever done it, just he is looking that good right now.

He might be later this year in conditions good for running fast. Bowerman mile has always been a joke, by far the most serious mile attempted year after year, but in terrible conditions of wind and heat. Would have been about a 3:47 in Europe.

I disagree, events which are mostly aerobic (5km 10km) ALWAYS have that fast last lap, even in world record times.

The 3000m however was a 59/60 I think so closer to even pace.

The 1500m I don't really know.

And finally the 800m... you guessed it: positive splits!

There's a pattern here: Last lap is more related to pace rather than actual distance. Even more at the Elite Level.

That logic is like saying that Gebremeskel would have also run a 12:3x because of the last lap in 54 in paris: very unlikely.

True. Probably just a bad day for Jenny. Shannon though has either been off the juice or just the victim of age. (32yo for a miler is a rare). Her 2017 has been very mediocre by her standards.

Do you follow the sport? Rowburys 2017 season so far is almost a mirror image of her 2016 season which means it is not mediocre for her standards.

And BYW, Her 2016 season included a 4th place finish in Rio, a diamond league final win at 1500m and an AR at 5k.

Play it off all you want. The Kenyans avoid out of competition testing just like the Ethiopians, Cubans, Jamaicans...long list actually. Lots of talent in E. Africa. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cheats too. And lots of cucks like 3.51.98=doped who will slit their own wrists to defend them.

Murphy is a great talent. Fast, steady improvement. Surely nothing like say Bernie Lagat who suddenly became a world beater when put on EPO. Helluva responder. Benificiary of politics. Because of the way the E. Africans avoid out of season testing we don't get to give the clean E. Africans the respect they deserve.
