obviously

They are pretty much exactly the same in terms of running and environment. Just location is different. I'd say you do an over night visit at both schools and make your determination that way.

They are both awesome. I know people that run at both. They all love it. You can't go wrong.
Just don't go to St. Thomas... ;)
So mid distance this year was great. The 6, 8, and 1K were all fantastic races to watch. I hate to say it, but they were far far more entertaining than the distance events.
True. The 3k and 5k were dud races and were won by less that stellar athletes.
The mid-d events were flashy and fun to watch, even for non distance runners.
TIL Bugler is a "less that stellar" athlete.
I don't know who Thomas Lerdall is, but you don't win a conference race by being mediocre.
Whose JV do you run for, again?

Okay, Bugler isn't "less than stellar," but he still got tossed by Donson and Coffey in that DMR, It wasn't even funny. And they had run a race earlier that day!
Then that 3k wasn't terribly fast, and he almost got caught at the end. So you see where I am getting at? He isn't at the level that we often have our MIAC champions.

Steeple guys are all the same. Saving it for outdoor mentally holds them back. Bugler is no freak athlete, but he did make a sub 9 look very, very easy.
Watching ShittySpielberg's video, Donson and Bugler get their the batons at 6:09 and Coffey gets his at 6:10. Donson and Coffey both cross the line at 10:22, with Bugler following at 10:26, making their splits roughly Donson 4:13, Coffey 4:12, and Bugler 4:17. That's still not mediocre.
In the 3k, he let the gap close because no one challenged him for several laps. Would you go 100% if there wasn't anyone near you? Or would you scale back? Was his victory ever really in jeopardy?
What are your mile and 3K PRs? Based on your comments I doubt you've ever seen sub-4:40, and you likely "never lived up to your potential" in the 3K or something.
Regardless, his national championship begs to differ with him not being up to par with other conference champions. How many of those are on your shelf?

Thomas "Turtle" Lerdall was one of the many studs from Wayzata who never made the top 7 for Wayzata but tends to do well in D3. Crazy how a JV guy in High School turns into a Conference Champ in college!
How many guys do we have like that in the MIAC? I'm just curious.
They don't have to be conference champions, but you know, guys who were pretty average in high school and do well now.
I need some hope for my future.
Someone asked this on the cross country thread earlier last fall.
Top two answers were Coffey and Bugler.
I couldn't find Coffey's senior season, and I couldn't find Buglers freshman-junior year's or any cross country times (did he not do cross?). But you can see my point.
Bugler was very average and Joe was awful his junior year comparatively to now.
Coffey

tfrrs.org is going to rock your world when you find out how to use it.
They were bad.. wrote:

This was for their high school days. I don't think tfrrs does high school (I could be wrong).
Both were pretty average. Coffey was maybe a 4:38 miler his junior year, was a 2:05 800m runner, and was awful at cross country. Bugler averaged about 4:36 his senior season for the mile and only broke 10:10 in the 3200m once.
Their transition to college is incredible.
Forgive me it was 4:30 in the morning when I wrote that.

I visited Gustavus. The coach is awesome, but the team definitely had a lot of douches...and St. John's is separated from girls if that's an issue
Heat sheets are out for Last Chance at Olaf. DMR is loaded--U of M frosh (Hoeft, Trotter, and Hamza) vs. Oshkosh with Lara, Zack, Skinkins vs. Olaf studs vs. Eau Claire's best minus Lau. Wartburg in as well--they were 4th at Nats last year, but not sure who they return.
We could very easily see three, maybe four teams under 10 minutes.
As for individual events, it looks like Paul Escher is going to take the Oles and Newsum to sub-15 and Eggers to a more secure National Qualifier in the mile.
Rematch of the Conference final in the 800.
Where are the heat sheets posted?

Are you sure they (the DMRs) are not all going to scratch and go to Stevens Point? They're entered there too and that meet is STACKED.
