I would expect longer odds on England, Spain and Italy, though Italy could still qualify in the unlikely event that Uruguay have points deducted for the Suarez incident.

These were the pre-tournament odds for the 1998 World Cup. In reply to the poster who said that France won it as "huge underdogs" which is obviously false.

As for Uruguay, they will not have points deducted. That only happens for drugs or fielding ineligible players. Suarez should be receiving a long ban (at least 6 months) from all football for *repeatedly* bringing the game into disrepute, as they say. But ironically, FIFA doesn't have any balls when it comes to this.

The Spanish sports paper AS claims today that Suarez will be suspended for 4 international matches. I don't know if that's wild speculation or if they have an inside source, but if that's all it would be a pathetically lenient sanction. One might hope it's just a preliminary sentence to get him out of the World Cup and give themselves time to come up with a more comprehensive decision.

Hope a team wins this WC that has never won before. Therefore I am going with Columbia or Costa Rica.

James Rodriguez from Columbia is simply amazing. What an inspiration it is to watch him go to work with such composure and effortless ease dribbling around defenders as if they're not there and scoring with such precision. And he is doing all of this at only 22. He is the breakout star of the World Cup so far, the Usain Bolt of futbol if you will.

Dude, that is a turban. Offensive much? This is the World Cup, not the Texas Cup. People have different backgrounds and religious practices.

Didn't you see the cloth patch underneath and notice the fact that it was turning red as the match wore on? I mean, what else could it possibly have been????

USA has 5 team members born outside of the USA and two that basically grew up in other countries and people on this board give Lagat crap?

I think from this World Cup to the next World Cup, you can count on France having a very strong team. They'll have a good mix of experience and youth and a good keeper and won't have the trouble makers of the previous years.
