Who is Yaseen and why do people here keep talking about him?
He bounced around from Texas to Tennessee to Arkansas in the NCAA. He anchored the DMR champs while at Texas and then had an up and down rest of his collegiate career (including a phenomenal 3rd (?) in XC).
he also documented his journey in his YouTube channel. Would feel disrespectful to lead with him being a YouTuber, but that’s where most of us likely turned into fans

Yaseen Abdalla. Finished his NCAA eligibility in 2025. Ran for U of Texas, then U of Tennessee and finally U of Arkansas. I believe he was All-American in cross, indoor and outdoor track.
Runs for Sudan. His parents (or one parent?) is from there. I don’t know where YA was born but he went to high school in the US.
Ran the marathon for Sudan at the Paris Olympics and had, I believe, a top-25 finish.

Ser-Od Bat-Ochir coming in now with his flag. Might be his last global championship marathon - he's been in every one starting in 2003. Remarkable
20th in the marathon in 2011 at daegu worlds, top ten finishes at berlin and london. Prime might've been a long time ago, but to be still running after 23 years at an elite level is impressive.
