Who cares if it was 3:33 though it’s a race. Not every race needs to be 3:27 for it to be an exciting race.
What do you think the winning time at Worlds will be? Unlikely to be sub 3:30 given nobody will want to lead and Jakob not in peak form (if he races at all).
Going back through the last 5 championship 1500s
2019 - Potato Tim front ran and won in 3:29
2021 - he tried the same strategy but Jingy out kicked him to win in 3:28
2022 - Jingy front runs and gets out kicked by Wightman in 3:29
2023 - Jingy front runs and gets out kicked by Kerr in 3:29
2024 - Jingy front runs and gets out kicked by Hocker, Kerr and Nuguse in 3:27
these races were fast because they went fast from the gun. that won’t happen this year unless Habz or someone decides to try it. I think we see a 3:32 race and the winner closes in 38.5 / 52 for final 300 / 400.
Nuguse closed in 39.0 / 53.0 today. he needs to run 1s faster over last lap to have a shot (and needs to win DL final first of course!)
