I feel like you could see it on Bol's face in the final 100. She saw how far ahead SML was and just looked defeated. Might have played into her fading even further.

SML actually smiled and greeted other runners after that race! My sister once met SML in an airport and raved about how nice she was. I responded by telling her how I have a hard time cheering for SML due to the low number of races and the lack of cheerful celebration/sportsmanship after races. Today SML proved me wrong and I couldn't be happier

Sydney needs to stop fooling around and only double from here on out. Whether it's the 200, 400, whatever. She could beat Bol with her eyes closed.

I'm never a person to discount the possibility of doping in elite athletes, and Cockrell does have a superheroine physique.

But the 400m hurdles is a bit of an oddball, because technique matters so much. It simply takes longer to hit your peak in it than the flat runs.

What do you do now if you are Bol? Move to the open 400? Move to the 800? Keep at the 400h and hope SML gets bored?

With Klaver in poor shape and Bol very unlikely to run the heat tomorrow morning, we might not even see NED in the final.

I feel like I might be more excited about Cockrell’s silver.
