If you are going to training like me take baby steps to get the effects of my training. Please dont hammer it like a horse, unless you want to sleep the all day so that you can recover from it.

Got it. Thanks Henry. I tried to hammer it earlier this year and it got me nowhere except burnt out. I am taking it real easy at the moment, doing what you do -- listening to the body, getting into the joy of moving. And I'm not worried if it takes 6 months or a year of this before I feel developed enough to start putting in the speed work.
People keep asking me "When's your next race?" I say, "I don't know", and they get really confused. See, I get pressure even at my level! It gives me a taste of what you deal with. Do you ever wish you had never announced your intentions in this public forum?
NO! I am glad I did announce, because people thought I was not alive. Now they know I am still living and kicking which very important for them and me.Please dont get confused people needs to stay active and do something.
You can see now I did my 85 minutes +25 minutes dry sauna.I am still recovering from exercis weight for the uppers I did on monday.I need to be careful on weight training because we Kenyans dont know about weight lefting.I need a smart instructor for that.
Yeah! Dont worry about running.Running is a cool thing for the body.I am feel good after running and my world is good too.Am I sound crazy, but it works.
Henry
Happy thanksgiving everybody.
For the ThanksGiving day. I ran 66 minutes + 21 minutes dry sauna. After that I had a big room for Turkey meals.
Henry
When are you going to transition into some tempo running or faster?
What are your upcoming race plans?
As race director I was called at 11ppm the night before the race and was reminded we didn't yet have a race number for Henry. I quickly went down to my T&FN collection (going back to 1964) and found the WR and remembered that that number was still available. Very good observation on your part!

This morning I was there 31mwp+41mhc+14mcd=86 minutes.
I will try to get there very often now.The weather here dont get cold as Canada.
December is the right time for me to train in the hills.

I think it is really cool that Henry is posting here about his training and athletic goals. I wish you well with your challange Henry

My run this morning:33mwp + 45mhc + 14mcd = 92 minutes.
I feel great afterwords. Rono Copper Hill is reminding me Gilgil hills in Kenya.
I want to jump start those running engine memories in this cold weather.
My muscles quads are clueded in the bone tendones and the shoulders plates are not pushing it enough;however, the Rono Copper Hill will do it.

It was cold this morning I went out for 88 minutes + 28 minutes dry sauna.
The weather is changing for my physical/mental exercise training and it will be easy to lose weight upto 150lbs I am definitely sure.

The route today was Tramway for 88 minutes + 25 minutes dry sauna.
"You are looking good shape," said Ana, while I was heading to men's locker room.
"How old are you?"
I am 55 years old, I said."I am 47 years old," she said.
After all of that I knew I am losing weight in this cold weather.I knew I am heading somewhere higher up in the running scene, eventhough I still have 25lbs on me.I can feel it, I can tell it, and one can tell it and see it too at the distance.
Henry
Why do you find it easier to lose weight in the colder months?
I found this blast from the past vid. Your 2 mile race against Ovett. Poor quality but perhaps you have not seen it in a while
Ovett should be ashamed of this race as Henry did all of the work. No Rono, no record.
A race is just that...a race. Ovett cold sprint finish. Henry did what he did best, make the pace with a varied speed spurts.
Ovett, Rono, Coe, Aquita etc, all were huge talents and did wonders for Athletics in their time.
One of my teachers says he knows you Mr. Rono. Do you remember Tim Stensland from WSU? He likes to talk about the only race he ever beat you in...
Hi Henry
after following your story on the web i let Herbert Steffny(German Marathon runner from the 80s) know about your comeback. He runs a German Based Running Website and wrote a little about your comeback attempts on his site.
He has now posted a very positive review of your Book on his site
I have also ordered my copy and am looking forward to reading your story.
As a side note i am based in Cologne Germany and i remember you mentioning that you had also run there in the 80s(the big club is the ASV) it was also the base of Thomas Wessinghage for many years as well when he ran for the ASV
Good luck on your comeback trail
All the best
Scott
Henry- I know you ran 17:47 at Carlsbad in April. I was wondering what your recent race times have been at various distances of late?
Thanks
