Just curious: Any inside info on either Yale or Harvard positions or their hiring processes? I have a couple of friends that are very interested in either/both positions. Yale was still listing the job as open fairly recently. Harvard hasn't listed anything yet.
Are both schools just going to hang their throwers out to swing in the breeze?

you can be sure the schools are handling the hiring process as they see fit.

Apparently Yale has been moving forward. Nothing about Harvard...and you are a tool for your response.

It's sad when programs run a tight ship and don't let rumors start spreading and they get criticized for it on here. Just because it's not on this forum doesn't mean it's happening.
It's surprising that the candidates are keeping tight lipped as well. You know if it was a distance job things would get out.
Kent State is hiring a sprints coach/associate HC. Most likely they already have someone on the table judging by the fact that they used a different job announcement site. "Equal Opportunity Employment" :):):)

I would have to completely disagree with you all on here complaining about how "unfair" and "unethical" it is when young coaches state on resumes, bios, etc about coaching involvement. While you are entitled to your opinion from your cheep seat, you couldn't be further from knowing the truth. Maybe you had a different pathway into coaching which did not include such an experience?
A lot of volunteers, GA's, 6th position coaches, etc may not be implementing their own training on a daily basis, HOWEVER... I can say, many individuals who have had the opportunity to have involvement on this level, regardless of school size, have most likely been granted such an opportunity by a coach that has seen a high level of competence in coaching. Most GA and Volunteer positions are interviewed positions just as if being hired as full time in a lot of cases. Whether a GA or a volunteer or the like, these individuals have a wide range of coaching involvement and in a lot of instances, are an intragal component to the success of athletes in a particular group and sometimes an entire team. These individuals after putting in countless hours at practice and behind the scenes should be recognized for their efforts that contributed to the amount of success that took place with the athletes he/she helped manage on a daily basis. Which is why these individuals should include their involvement with such athletes on resumes etc. While there are some very mistaken young coaches who want to claim total responsibility for the success that took place, most undoubtedly realize their involvement helped FOSTER the success rather than PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE.
I am very aware that I was not the first or the last ever GA or volunteer to have had a number of athletes, who, after winning a national title thanked me for my guidance and leadership and admitted they wouldn't be where they are had it not been for my help along the way. To you on the outside, this young coache may have been a "stop watch holder" but to the head coaches and assistant coaches and athletes on the team, there is a lot more to being a GA or volunteer than merely standing on the sidelines mute.
I would agree with the above statement regarding graduate and volunteer assistants. I have served in both rolls and now work with others in those positions. They will have a great impact on the program as that was my goal while under that title.
The head coach thanked me daily and when they were recognized as the regional COY I was the first one called to be congratulated. The HC realized the benefit and appreciated the help. They were asked on a few occations about letting me the "volunteer" do certain things at meets, most recently at the NCAA DI Finals.
I only added to this thread because through those positions I gained the respect and experience to land a paid position in the division I prefer. However along the way I have worked with poor representatives of the sport whom continue to be promoted or maintain their position. It isn't fair but complaining about them will not get you a job in this profession.
I saw that North Dakota State University is looking to hire a Head Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Coach. Do they have someone already they want to hire?

I would be absolutely amazed if NDSU didn't remove the interim tag from Stevie at the end of the year. Likely, because they are a state institution they are required to post the position, interview 3 candidates and jump through certain hoops. Stevie is an alum that has had a lot of success as an Associate Head coach for the past few years. The real question is who will become the Head Cross Country coach...........

I heard the former IU throws coach was in the mix, but not sure at what stage they are in.

YES they are eligible for Unemployment. Thye have to file, most likely the school or head coach will dispute it and make up some BS about why you were let go, but tell you a different story.
It can get ugly, but that is money you earned and should fight for it

BAS now that's a lie. You wouldn't recruit them? Why did you agree with your sprint coach to offer Harvey 80%? If you think she was worth 80% at Penn State then that tells me that you were only interested in being competitive at the conference level if you are saying she is not good enough for the SEC. Did your sprint coach agree with you or was it your non-coaching distance coach who convince the SWA to convince you to cut the sprint recruits to get more distance kids? My prediction, Hall will be the Head Coach at Ole Miss next year and hires Johnson as his assistant. I say fire the SWA and all her clones.
