Frank Meza 2:53:10 at LA Marathon (70 years old) unofficial time (just finished)

I believe Francisco has much to do with the topic. After all he has been running with his father his whole life. He also ran 3:09 at LAM 2018, with very believable splits. There is no way he would not know if his father is capable of beating him by almost 2 miles in the 2018 LAM. He is one of the so-called 3 banditos. And, the original topic was simply a congrats to Frank Meza for his race at LAM 2019. When the questions arose about him having cheated, the thread evolved to a sleuthathon. The thread continues because of no resolvement. Frank Meza denys all, and the RD’s are slow to decide what next....and we all keep trying to figure out how did he do it and why he did it.....

I don't think bicycling the LA course is nearly as difficult as Chi, especially with an ebike. Go to a photo sharing site like Flickr and look though candids of past LAMs. There are bicycles in at least 1/3 of the photographs. They're just everywhere along the course.

I do suspect the ethics he's displayed in his running career does likely carry over into other aspects of his life.

BUT I 100% agree; the phony reviews and attempts to ruin his career etc are malicious and not appropriate.

Whether Francisco knew what his dad was doing may be interesting, but somewhat irrelevant to Frank's cheating methods. Since he was busy running a legitimate race, Francisco clearly did not help Frank cheat in the 2018 LAM. He could not drive him around the course and was too slow to be a bib mule.

This is what triathleteguru, doubler, and others have done to previous cheats. It's not enough to get a DQ or publicly humiliate them. They are out for blood.

If Meza had cheated to post a decent marathon time, taken a few pictures and gone home, I may agree with your perspective.

Instead, he conspired to cheat for over a decade, to claim a World Record. He made videos about it. He spoke at conferences about it. His Kaiser page says: "I am an avid trail runner and also enjoy long-distance cycling.... I recently set eight California age group marathon records."

Given his willingness to put these "accomplishments" in the public light, it is completely reasonable to question his trustworthiness.

I'm sure the minions have flooded the internets with negative reviews for the LA Marathon too. Sponsors as well, no doubt.

Like I said, I like the idea, but your presentation isn't going to mean much to your intended audience.

Using the other doctor as your intro opens you up to pissing off that guy who's likely innocent. It's just vindictive and seems meant to humiliate them both. It's similar to the political ads that bombard the TV airwaves around elections.

Derricks articles are written from an investigative unbiased perspective, outlining the evidence and why it's impossible to believe anything else but the guy cheated.

Ironically, If the LA Marathon/Phoenix Marathon don't DQ in spite of overwhelming evidence, then it will get worse for Frank. People will be incensed (more than they are now) and will push for professional discipline outside of running. In fact, Frank will be relieved. He can feign that he's incensed and outraged and then retire from running "disgusted."

If they don't, I chatted with someone who wants to crowd fund a billboard before the next LA Marathon that screams: "LA Marathon: Cheaters Welcome"

It's not just that he cheated but it's the impotence of some of these racing groups. Just DQ him already and this will die down. Frank will never race again; he can work and claim it was all a misunderstanding or protest it and leave it at that.

If they don't, then this will get much worse for all on the Meza side of things (and the LR Frank Meza message board will reach 1000 pages)
