It was impossible for him to have run those splits based on the video and timing evidence, end of story. Why the need to find out how he did it? Are we trying to learn from him so that we can do it? No

LAM already have enough evidence to DQ him. They haven't.

The do not need evidence to flag his result as 'pending'. They haven't.

Telling them how he did it is not going to change it.

Yes, that's the video where he enters the screen carrying a garment, then runs to the side and appears to hand it off to someone, an accomplice?

I respect your theory but you're forgetting all the other events he cheated over the last decade, not all those are bike friendly enough for a single cheating person.

Oh yeah, re "Frank is a triathlete", he's not, he just cheated a couple of Tri's to add to the resume, why not?

Going by the videos, Instagram posts, etc, it would seem so, not only him, but others who know about it or are involved in his cheating.

Good to see you've got a sense of humour too.

It doesn't look like the guy is very into, or accomplished at cycling. He cheats at the bike leg in triathlons. From the few photos of him on the bike leg, he looks quite awkward and unfamiliar with a bike. He looks even more awkward and uncomfortable riding a bike than he does running. It's hard to imagine him actually choosing this method of transit.

I agree with this, and I think I might have said something to the same effect a couple of thousand posts ago. I think fussing over the details of how he did it, while I can understand why people do that, is kind of a waste of time. Try this thought experiment: think of your local marathon, or some marathon with which you are familiar. Imagine you decided to "pull a Meza" and make it appear that you ran a 2:53, or some such time, by triggering all the timing mats and then jogging in the last half mile or so. How would you do it? Well, the point is, you could probably find a way. You don't have to be a diabolical genius to figure it out. Let's say you are running a marathon with timing mats every 5k. You know you want to make it look like each 5k segment took 20:xx or whatever. Obviously, it would all depend on the layout of the course. Maybe for MY local marathon, I find that I cross the start line, and since the first 5k just winds through downtown, I exit the course, walk over to the 5k mark, wait the appropriate amount of time, then re-enter the course and trigger the mat. For the 10k marker, it's difficult to get to it in any reasonable amount of time, so I get my brother, who is a dishonest d!ck just like me, to drive me from 5k to 10k. After 10k, there is an out and back section that makes it easy to just walk to the 15k area, and after that, I stash a bike...

The point being, the choices I make don't require any real intelligence or crazy trickery. Just wear nondescript clothing and work out the timing. But to some detective trying to retrace my steps later, it might all seem so complicated, and like I employed so many different tactics, that they'd be tempted to say "this guy's a freaking genius cheater!" No. All the steps were fairly obvious, and were dictated by the course. If I have 20 minutes and only need to cover 1/2 a mile to get to the next mat, it's super-easy - I can just walk. If I have 20 minutes and actually have to cover a full 5k to get to the next mat, I need to arrange a ride. Etc, etc.

I say, don't give the guy more credit than he deserves. Anybody could do it, if they were sick in the head enough to want to bother working out the details.

If you were the cheater in this situation, you would love the 'tail chasing' that is going on, because as long as the means of doing it is viewed as important, there remains doubt to those that haven't been convinced.

Yes, prove that he cheated at other races too, but no need to find out how when anybody can cheat if they tried to.

The 'how' is important because it will offer proof to the LA marathon organizers. Proof will lead to the DQ.

We get your message, he cheated at LA2019 and PHX2019, you know that, we know that.

You come up with something concrete and worthwhile on his cheating, such as evidence of cheating in other events that hasn't been brought up yet, then we'll stop speculating about how he did it.

In the meantime stop being a killjoy.

Hint: If you see a "how did he..." post, don't fret and worry about it, skip over it and move on.
