This is your first time ever hearing of a track athlete missing three drug tests?
It happened to Brianna Rollins last year, the Olympic Champion in the women’s 100m hurdles. And even that was a huge ordeal for the world championships.
Mo Farah missed two tests.
Missing drug tests happens more than you think.
100m is the premier event in track and field and the Olympics in general.. This will be a huge ordeal, because anytime a top sprinter, especially an American sprinter, is associated with anything related to a drug test, it will be magnified. All you have to do is look at history. Marion, gay, Gatlin, Flo-jo(accusations).
Plus with the World Championships and the Olympics coming up, this will be the main story, even overseas, where track and field is more appreciated.
The only other person on coleman’s Level as a sprinter world wide is Lyle.
With that being said, it will put the protocol under a microscope, which will lead to discussions about the protocol, and should it be reformed.
America’s top sprinter missing the Olympics and WC? Plus Nike’s biggest track athlete? This will not go over smoothly and without some serious fighting.
I personally doubt that he will be suspended.
Clearly we all know about Rollins. I was talking in the context of all sports covered by WADA, I have never heard of athletes missing three tests except for track and field. Maybe it has happened? I don't think so because we would have likely heard anecdotal references to it by now.
We will see. WADA doesn't give two $hits who Christian Coleman is nor what he means to track and field. And they shouldn't. Their task to make sure everyone, in all sports, is playing by the same rules. If they make exceptions for one they then lose their credibility. It is not their job to adapt to the athletes, it is the athletes' job to adapt to their rules and procedures.
I, of anyone, can honestly say that I believe in rules. I believe people should follow those rules. When you break those rules, you own it, accept your punishment, and move on.
Curious not only to the exact circumstances behind the incident he is appealing, but also why we have not hear a single word about the other two tests he missed. Like I said, there are a lot of drugs and stimulants that are banned that can be taken from time to time and cleared within 24-48 hours.
I would bet he is suspended. Either way, it looks bad. If he is, it is another American male sprinter banned/suspended. If they grant his appeal, it is the Big Bad USA getting their way. USADA and WADA will want their protocols followed. Any deviation from that opens a Pandora's box for others to systematically skip tests and get away with various types of doping.
Lol
WADA only cares about making sure that doping standards are met by all sports, and they don’t make exceptions??
All they do is make exceptions, especially for real drug cheats.
Ha I can’t believe you stated that.
You just exposed yourself.
WADA made a lame exception for Chris Frome, who everyone in the cycling world knows is a drug cheat. Stop it.
They were heavily criticized and bashed for their laxed efforts.
Clearly you don’t know WADA.
