It goes to credibility. Under Federal Rule of Evidence 609, a witness can be impeached with felony convictions or conviction of crimes involving false statements or dishonesty (subject to a balancing test for convictions over 10 years old). If his prior conviction is good enough for Federal court then it's certainly fair game here.

Too bad there is nothing in those Ohio court documents to say exactly what he did. Those documents are useless for anyone trying to hold the Justice system accountable. But I guess secret courts with secret National security letters are standard in America now.

You can still access the Google cached pages of his blog if anyone cares to archive it. Just change the URL. Looking at the titles of his posts, a lot of it has a strong Christian component which explains a lot about the deceit.

We need to prove that he kept it just as he said he would? He never said he'd give a penny to the charities. He was up front that the money was for his expenses. He said he'd tweet about the charities.

The guy is a bs-er, but maybe he really did tweet about the charities like he said he would.

This is a story about a guy who exaggerates his running. It's not about the charity money. $5600 is not a lot of money and there's no evidence yet that the money went anywhere except where he said it would go.

There's a lot of fraud, deception, and misallocated funds in charity work, but this is not the scandal you're looking for.

Not exactly. The Ohio court documents charged him with importuning meaning soliciting or having sex with a minor that is not your spouse. If you marry the underaged minor, then the sex is legal according to how the Ohio law is written.

To add to that, you are guilty of importuning even if you are not aware the other person is underaged, like if they are a 16 or 17 year old girlfriend. McFatty would have been 26/27 at that time. And it would have been all legal if they just married (probably a whacked up Christian Bible thumper loophole). Unless I see more information from the secret Courts of America, I need to reserve my judgement on this one.

They were small time country bumpkin type media who are always looking for copy to fill their air time/pages and often take all sorts of bullshit at face value, with a bit of luck they'll cover it again, this time with the LetsRun sleuths version. Well it seems as though our giant of Social Media (who had thought to tout his greatness on every platform except Garmin connect) is still in lockdown, but it looks like he's still talking about the lies, self-justifying and blaming haters behind the scenes, based on various SM responses.

Also looks like a trip to the Cleveland Marathon for an appearance of sorts is on the itinerary as well.

That tells me there is zero remorse and zero chance of a confession or apology coming up, so regrettably I sense the hounds are going to get poised to move to phase 2.
