Actually the 13:10 could be an argument against Webb. That's a ways away from 3:48,
just a question, but since when has webb's p.r. been 3:48? I thought it was 3:50, anyone who has any info on when he ran this would be much appreciated
Webb ran 3:48.92 at the Bislett Mile last summer. It's more toward the end of 3:49, but 3:48 sounds better. Mottram ran 3:48.96, right behind Webb, in the same race.

You seem to really know your results, but I thought Mottram ran 3:49?
Anyway,
1500
Webb - 3:32
Ritz - 3:42.99
3000
Webb - 7:39
Ritz - 7:50
5000
Webb - 13:10
Ritz - 13:22
Webb's faster at everything from 5000 down. Webb has also ran well in 10-12k cross country races. I don't know if Webb can stretch out a 10000 on the track against Ritz, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a close race. Overall I think Ritz will pull away in the last 1000, but Webb will give a good show. I think he can go sub 28:00.

You thought wrong. Mottram ran 3:48 last year.
I agree. Both Ritz and Webb got stomach viruses this winter in Europe when they were there for cross(strange huh?), so they both suffered a little bit of lost time in training. As far as Webb's PR's being faster than Ritz's concerning races 5000m and under, you can't really compare because Ritz never got into peak shape like Webb did for some of the races. The only valid comparison I would make between the two for one being faster than the other and some distance would be that Webb is obviously faster at 1500m, but last year at the Prefontaine Classic, Webb set the 2 Mile AR in 8:11 while Ritz finished in 8:23 or so in that same race. Webb had also ran 13:30 about a month or more before that when Ritz had run 13:22. So even though Ritz has the image of being a better "distance" runner, he really is only for 10,000m or more, but I guess tonight will tell if that is true or not.

wow speed's a killer. a miler defeated a 10k runner in his own domain.
does anybody know what kind of training webb has been doing lately? more 10kish or more middle distance?

3) Like I said, I think Ritz can run 27:18 at Stanford if the weather is right and he doesn't hold back. I do NOT think Webb is capable of that time -- not now, and likely NOT EVER.
Brilliant analysis, douchebag.

I think we can finally lay to rest the fallacy that Webb is just a miler.
flagpole you're an idiot.
Now just where did that pussy Flagpole Willy flee away to?
Webb's impression of the 10K pace:
Man
this
feels
slow
