What the media and police need to do is to release the actual photos of the victims, censoring nothing.
The reality of what is happening will be inescapable and so vial, things will change, and will change fairly quickly.
I have heard this said be a crime specialist and it rings true.
The general public would not have the stomach for how atrocious these things really are, and the public pressure to put an end to it would yield the necessary reforms.
Yes, give all the “good guys” guns. Just be careful that they are all “good guys” and don’t at some point have a bad day and hope they maintain their mental stability their whole lives. We need more guns in the hands of good guys!!!
I am a good guy and I have guns, but I cannot be everywhere. I will protect my family and friends. I will protect my home and yes I do believe most people are good, But there are enough evil people in the world that those of us with high moral character need guns.

That’s why I think the government should issue an ar-15 and 9mm to EVERY American. It’s kind of like mutually assured destruction
If we were ever stupid enough to let you fools take our guns surely nothing bad would happen. It's not like authoritarian governments have never done anything bad to an unarmed populace.
On the other hand we know if you make guns illegal it is 100% impossible for anyone to get their hands on them ever. That's why the shootings in Chicago have gone down so much as gun control has risen.
I am adamantly anti-gun and would love for all Red State, Blue State, Purple State, whatever state guns to be abolished. I don't want your gun; I want your gun melted and the metal refashioned as something of value, purpose, and, perhaps, beauty.
What do I think will happen when this occurs? A government takeover? What takeover would possibly happen that you haven't already readily collaborated in? We've given up any hope of a livable future by letting corporations pollute at will; we've given up our "privacy" by using credit cards, automatic toll-paying devices, cell phones, and social media; we've given up on a civil and meaningful public life by electing Right-wing frauds, dummies, and bullies at all levels of government (let's please not pretend that this is a both-sides phenomenon); we've given up on true public safety by arming our police to the teeth and permitting them to abuse and murder with near impunity.
What do you really think your dumb guns are protecting us from? You've already surrendered everything of value. We can't shoot our way out of the climate crisis; we can't shoot our way to authentic privacy; we can't shoot our way to a representative, equitable, functional democracy; and we sure as sh1t can't shoot our way to public safety. These problems, the real problems, aren't shootable, and yet you and others like you have mistaken the solution to them as a violent one.
In the meantime, as you wait like a street-corner end-times "prophet" for the big one, the government takeover, you seem perfectly happy to accept the deaths of tens of thousands of people a year, as though they are just collateral damage in your Alamo fantasy. They are, in a sense, pre-casualties in the great uprising you predict--the great uprising that will never happen and that these 9-year-old children in Nashville did not willingly enlist in. But they have died in the service of your fantasy and fear. What heroes they are.
You are sooooooo far off base that I don't know where to start. No one is taking anyone's guns in this country, not happening sir/ma'am.
No one is perfectly happy to accept the deaths of tens of thousands of people a year...you've got some major liberal issues to make such a statement. Alamo Fantasy??? You may have dementia and should get that looked at soon.
Great uprising? Wow! So when people had guns 30 years ago, they had them to prepare for an uprising?
The majority of people have guns for personal protection. Go online, a thing called YouTube, and see how many people were saved by the gun in their house that took out someone who entered their house with a gun and bad intentions. You good with that?
Stay unharmed sir/ma'am, that's your choice. People on the left own guns too...including lots of people I know, they just don't announce it as why should they?
No one wants any child to be killed, ever! Its sick and sad:(
You can figure out a way to stop the whackos bent on hurting people. Make that your mission. Good luck

So glad to hear that you’re a Good Guy. Most everyone says they are a Good Guy. That’s good. So we Good Guys should all get assault rifles and handguns, to protect ourselves from those of us Good Guys who are actually Bad Guys.
What are the necessary reforms exactly? I'm sure this gal broke a few laws in committing this heinous crime. Everyone is talking about honest conversations. I'm just curious what is considered to be necessary result of these with over 350 million firearms in circulation.

The reform is MORE guns. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
Let the guessing game begin. Thank "god" our politicians are more concerned with banning books, CRT, and drag shows.
WSJ is reporting Audrey was transgender.
“Police said Monday evening that the suspect identified as transgender and was a former student at the school. Investigators found a statement written by the suspect associated with the case but haven’t determined a motive, said Nashville Police Chief John Drake.”

During the Vietnam War the government saw that the general public couldn't stomach seeing all the caskets being unloaded from the planes. So the government stopped letting the media take pictures of them.
The amount of idiocy from republicans on this issue is equal to the amount of idiocy from democrats on gender affirming care, trans rights, and overt racism.
Both sides are idiots and beholden the activist that fund their parties. Nothing will ever change.

Makes perfect sense.
We have become neutered to the horrific nature of what is happening. It's too abstracted and it has an air of unreality.
I guarantee you, if photos of these poor children and adults with their bodies blown apart appeared in our newspapers each time, enough people would rise to action and this would change.
And shouldn't there be a responsibility to disclose the truth, even if it is ugly and horrific? This is what we are allowing by our current lack of effective gun measures.
We have far too many unstable people in all walks of life roaming this nation. They need help. They need meds. But, in true American fashion, we don't spend any money on mental health services because that would cost some billionaire another private jet or some corporation another chance to buy back stock. We are reaping what Ronald Reagan sowed 40 years ago when his administration gutted funding to state mental hospitals and treatment facilities. Couple that with expensive private insurance coverage that actively works to deny you opportunities to seek care and this is what we get!
The Second Amendment isn't going away nor will politicians really seek to limit it. That genie is not going back into the bottle. More self-styled protectors and "good guys" won't make a dent either. The only course of action is to do all that we can to eliminate the mentally and emotionally ill from getting to the point of mass murder by ensuring that they are treated.
Neither party is willing to do anything about this other than to keep us distracted with the same old arguments about gun rights.
