Please don't say that! BAS is great and would do a fantastic job, she definitely has earned the chance to actually achieve the first positive stride in her career. Just because she was awful at Tennessee...and I mean AWFUL.....it shouldn't reflect poorly on the opportunity Stanford will give her. Please take her! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that makes a little more since, but still don't see him leaving for Miami (FL). They are bad and doubt they would give him the resources to change that.

Stanford is deciding between Beth Alford Sullivan, Mike Smith, and Joe Franklin. The big sticking point for Stanford is they want their head coach to have director experience. Mike McGuire dropped to 4th because he lacks director experience.
Vin Lananna declined Stanford's offer to be head coach. But he is been actively campaigning for Alford-Sullivan to get the head job.
A team of Alford-Sullivan as head coach, and McGuire as women's assistant, might be appealing to the Stanford decision makers. Expect a decision to be made in the next week.

You have a blank slate. You don’t start competing until the following school year.
What type of coaches do you hire? Do you go with the Portland model & go all distance? Do you comb the NCAA transfer portal & grab unhappy athletes from other schools? Do you recruit athletes who can do multiple events and score at the conference level?

Why would McGuire make a lateral move to go somewhere that has a way higher cost of living, doesn't have as good of facilities and a more limited recruitment pool? Dude is close to winning a National Championship in XC and likely going to get one in the next few years with the talent he has pulled in.
Most programs undermined this type of model for new start programs. As a coach you have two things to worry about....RECRUITING and administrative duties. You don't have to worry about winning right away, budget restrictions, travel, etc. This is the best way to go IMO.
