The 425 day of training phase II. The same loop through copper hill coping the same foot on a better rhythm, I was where I started two minutes earlie, than the other day.
125 minutes is in my joins and hipps and it is great for today.

In the fall of 1979 (I believe)- I was at Lehigh University for the NCAA XC meet. I was at the mile mark when Henry went through in 4:13- 4:15, with Salazar, on his way to 10k and Victory. That race has continued to impress and inspire me almost 30 yrs later. At this point I'd agree that its all about the body weight. The muscle memory, CV etc will be there. Press on!

Henry,
Have you read the article about you in the latest issue of Runner's World? If so, what did you think about it?

The writer is a coward one.He didn't put what I say about my pain in me and the relationship with my coaches and managers. So, he try to be nice guy;however, the truth still deep down hidden in the valley and one day will come up by surpprise which is very good. The Olympic Dream US magazine will cover most of the story in Junaury 2008 plus what is coming up in my book.
They always dont understand me anyway which is good.I like it that way.

Henry, the writer, Bill Donahue, plagiarized this thread for material, lifting Malmo's description of your races in Eugene almost word-for-word. It's a good thing that you cooperated with Runner's World for the article. On the other hand, Runner's World isn't really a forum for serious runners. Kepp on truckin, Henry.

You know what I thought of him.I think he was scared to death, when he spoke with my Lawyer Lynne from there he didnt have any competent to write anything other than look for other sources.
I want all my writers to step up on this forum and letsrun all the way. They other lead, follow or get out the way.Because they are not serving any purpose to runners to be real. You hit the nail on the head,we need serious people for seroius runners like me.Now you get me going! I mean it!

are you still training to 'race' or are you just training now for your health and peace of mind? I haven't heard you say anything about racing or times or anything lately. What's the story on the comeback?

I am taking a deep breath because someone put a heavy thing in my head.I want to off load that first then I will a room for thinking about the future racing, but my wheels still moving forward. You know I ran today for 125 minutes and that counts.I dont want to show people that I am coming with big horns. You know that it would scare people off.I want to be a nice guy right!
You know after Carlsbad the whole world went wild.I had no room to breath the air.I want to hide my seriousness and be low key for now.It pays off later on trust me.
Henry
I'm glad to hear that you haven't given up on the 'racing and competing' comeback. Hopefully you can get alot of the chaos and distractions taken care of, the rest of 2007 and we will see a calm, focused, fit, 150 lb Rono in 2008? We fans hope so! Like you and others have said: "it is still within your body and spirit to make it all the way back". When your life is simplified to "job, training and sleeping" you will be at peace, will not over-eat or get injured. It WILL happen! Keep moving ahead, getting your life smoothed out and simplified. I look forward to seeing the name Rono in the race results, at the top, in 2008!
To glad to hear you are still on
I am glad you got my point across.
sometimes I dont come out across very clear because of my typing errors. I do miss a word here and there;however, people understands my writing situations, but it doesnt mean I will stop putting words on the message board.
Thanks
Henry
Henry, are you still going to Riccione this september? It's not that far from where I live and was thinking of making the trip to the masters c'ships...
I think you can count that one OUT. He's still 25 lbs overweight and still doing long, slow distance; not ready for track races, obviously.....but....he will be next year!

It is a month away to think about it.Too long to put that in my head.I can pull a muscle by think that far away.
My mental preparation is not as other people's mental preparations.I have a unique way of planning my races around.I do like to take people unaware or by surpprise and say here is myyyy running worrrrlllddd!!!!!

A respectable, inspiring, somewhat primordial strategy... i'll try and use it tomorrow in this "La Speata" totally uphill, 12k, 1000m vertical climb race i'm doing... try to run quietly, sneak up behind enthused front-runners, and blow them away one by one... ha... fat chance... take care. http://www.laspeata.it/gara_Speata.htm

Saving energy is not as shying away in action. I hate to stick it out and you come along take it away as a hawk. That would scare the hell out of me.I wouldnt be very happy on that right!
My philosophy of running is unique as I say earlier. That is why it comes out by surpprise.

Henry,
Sorry if I misinterpreted the above. But if you read it over you might agree it sounds kind of scary... I suppose everything you say and do is unique for the special meaning you give to things.
Anyway, I didn't try it. The first 3K I was told were 18% gradient and the remaining 9K gradually got better but never flattened out until the very end for a 100m downhill before the last 200m uphill finish. I was knackered. Take care.
Henry - does this video bring back memories?

You did a good job.The above answer was not actually for you.It was for the other person who were deleted on the thread. So I am sorry, however, you running is great.
Take care.

As a health care professional I have seen many injuries with runners that assume that their body is what it was 20 years ago. When we gain weight and lose core musculature it dramatically changes our bodies biomechanics and the bodies ability to appropriately adapt to distance running. Henry, my advice to you is that you take some time off to heal your injuries. At the very least you need to decrease your mileage. To lose weight you must have your diet analysed. Our body is amazingly smart and realizes that you have an increased demand for calories. Therefore, you eat until you are full and you go nowhere with your weight loss. There are those who are trained to analyse your diet to show you ways to "trick" your body into thinking that you have consumed more than you have and, in essence, stay fuller longer.
One last note, I have seen many great things happen with chiropractic care, I believe that you should at least go and have your spine analysed to see if the spinal nerves are interfering with your recovery.
