They don't have a low stick like Cherry Creek does, so while they have a lot of depth, not sure they are podium-capable unless Dishon or James improve a lot between now and NXN. But they are still a solid team.

Is Mountain Vista as good as the polls and rankings suggest? The only result I have seen showed the girls running 3 minutes or more slower than the boys race on the same day/course. That would suggest the top runners are not that great. That would likely be 45 seconds or so behind a top # 1 runner such as Walters, Ewert or similar. But if someone has real data please post.

I agree. Sort of like Niwot, I think they have a nice pack but the pack is too far back from the front for them to be a true contender. They could definitely miss entirely.
With Riley Stewart, CC is definitely the class of CO. And I was wrong, all those teams are 5A except Niwot.

Daschbach to Washington. Powell has a great class, and I know Cole Sprout and Cruz Culpepper also had visits to UW.
I've never understood why more runners don't choose Wetmore/CU. He is the best coach in the nation by a big margin IMO. But Washington is a great university academically, so perhaps that played into it.

Because CU only has so many scholarships to offer and some runners might be intimidated, but yeah I 100% agree if you’re serious about being as fast as possible in college then you do everything possible to find your way to CU.
Washington is a great place to go if you’re used to that sort of weather and very short days in the winter. For someone from Arizona it’s probably not the greatest move, but maybe he’ll love the change for a few years.

Yeah, wonder how he'll do without sunlight. Haha. Kind of sucks for NAU to lose out on Daschbach. I think CU will be in the same boat, though. I don't see really see Sprout staying at CU, they'll probably be targeting Culpepper (who probably won't go because he grew up in Boulder) and then the second tier elite guys like Dylan Schubert, Connor Ohlson, Mason Norman, et al.

fwiw I show Niwot, Cherry Creek, Cherokee Trail and Mountain Vista in the top 15 teams in the country...Mountain Vista is a bit of a guess though.
There are a couple more strong SW teams too so someone may be disappointed in NXN selections
Corner Canyon looks really strong. Went 2-3-4-5-8 today at the Utah 6A state meet. If Easton Allred rounds into form as a top-5 guy at NXN, they could be pretty dangerous. I think Mark Boyle has also been a bit sick, but still managed to finish 3rd today (was 2nd last year).
They may be a podium team even with Allred at 90%. I doubt he can get back to the level he was at last year if it's true that he's only able to run 5-10 miles a week, but they have a lot of time, so he may be able to get close.

Utons run well at NXN nationals. And hey if something is red it’s red and no two ways about it right!

Pretty amazing that Davis split last year creating Farmington and Davis goes 2nd in 6A and Farmington wins 5A. A lot of talent in that area.

Niwot boys did well as well. Cruz Culpepper defended his state title in 15:36 (big negative split in mile 3), and they put their top five in the top 27. Might be a stretch for them to make NXN but they have an outside shot. Culpepper should be a top 5-15 type guy at NXN this year based on that run. We'll see how much he was holding back.

Saratoga Springs race results today would put them right in the mix with the top teams going into NXN Nationals, with good back end depth

Agree, I did a quick merge of 4A and 5A girls and Niwot would have won easily. Something was off with the Cherry Creek and Cherokee Trail teams today as their results looked far slower than one would think.
Niwot is strong, but based on today still not quite as strong as FM, Saratoga Springs, Summit, Great Oak, Beavercreek. But in a large meet and on a given day things can change.
One other thing to note, right now Saratoga Springs top 7 are 2 tenth graders, 3 ninth graders, 2 eighth graders.
You do realize they have had this type of make up for their team for 10 years and none of those young teams have developed into contenders, right?
They also get a tremendous boost to speed ratings racing in NY versus other areas of the country, which shows up heavily when they have to race real teams at NXN. Take 8 points off of each of their speed ratings to compare to the CO state meet today.
