It's Walmsley's arrogance who does it.
If Jim would learn to race smarter and not listen to his own BS, he would race better.

Walmsley's 5th place after basically just bonking from not eating shows me he's he's a legit 100 miler. If he didn't already prove it being an hour under record pace and getting lost at 90 miles at western states, this seals the deal. This UTMB was also significant in that its the first time I ever seen Kilian Jornet struggle legitimately from the race competition of such a long race, not some easily explained miscellaneous ultrarunning reason like gastro problems or overheating. It might be that Walmsley's early pace did him in.
Yes, I agree. The videos show him coming into aid stations far ahead of the others, standing around just waiting, the others come through a bit later, don't even stop and then he runs back out with them. A more even pacing would have helped a lot.
Also I think the sugar concentration in his drinks is too high, and the reason for his stomach upsets.

I did. My psychiatrist told me that I am fine but Jim Walmsley needs a couple sessions to cure his narcissistic babbling.
Here are the professionals he recommended:

Can't respect a so called "competitive" activity without prescence of black athletes.
Ultras and CrossFit give me a break! imagine the NFL or baseball without black athletes lol- they'd be a JOKE! Distance running too!

It could also have something to do with Kilian summiting Everest two times in a week and then winning Hardrock with a dislocated shoulder this spring/summer. And then going up against UTMB expert and beast-ultra runner D'haene. I think Mr Walmsley (who I was hoping would get it and hung in there for a very respectable result by the way) was just noise in that equation.

Struggle is a big word for somebody who gets second. Kilian was probably not 100% top of his game because of Everest and Hardrock and his dislocated shoulder.
I wish I would "struggle" on that level.

You can´t mention "athlete" and "baseball" in the same sentence.
Tim Tollefson is the 180 degree opposite of Walmsley:

Very likely WRONG but the competition will increase and we will see. Much of the genetics that lead to great feats in marathon and below are DETRIMENTAL to ULTRA MOUNTAIN running. I mean that's just LOGIC, I don't even have to bring science into this but it's there.

god, I can't stand Tim Tollefson. He is the definition of an elitist run snob.

But at least he is an elite runner.
*****************SOMETHING IS VERY VERY WRONG.*****************I literally know nothing about running but I suspect that UTMB should be, potentially, one of Sage's best events. He probably doesn't know how to train.

Epic fail.
He should focus on shorter races, where he shines (like JW).
He devoted all his season to the UTMB obsession and now the results speak for themselves... I appreciate his honesty at least (a 10 minutes video was more than enough though).
