Well, Flynn was not really a Russian agent. He was a Turkish agent, which is really quite a different thing. He was just taking money from the Russians also, but much less, and not in a long-standing arrangement.

A distinction without a difference. Trump hired a foreign agent as his National Security Advisor. It really doesn't matter which foreign government Flynn was working for.

Flynn did work directly for the Russian government, though he registered as a foreign agent of Turkey.

Also, there is evidence that the money he got for his Turkey work actually came through Russia.
