"Would you like to run a race, on a bike, again?"
Very interesting interview but her lack of competition knowledge kept it from being great. She didn't incorporate his age this year, 42, for example in questioning his potential competitiveness. If it was a baseball or basketball, sport specific knowledge would be expected. He most likely is looking to triathlons and running but no real in depth questions in this area.
I think she did a good job pursing certain answers that he was trying to avoid.. like what he told his son after he was defending Lance. Imagine what that conversation is like. When I have a child the last thing I want him to know is everything he grew up believing about his dad was a lie.
Rarely does things half-a$$ed is what I meant
I wonder how many people on here would want to see these same answers from Bekele, ElG, even Lasse Viren
No one would care
Clemens, , should Bonds give back 7 MVPs, Sosa
I think and always thought Lance Armstrong to be one of THE most obvious cheats in sport history, all he did was compete on THE level playing field
Ddin;t anyone find it funny he won 7 in a row in a sport that barely has a profile in the U.S.?
No one cared , he was winner,
Talk to me in twenty years when, almost every T&F track mark is scratched
No one has come near: 26:17, 3:26 really 3:43?
For those that say 3:45 or 3:46.xx is close, it is not that close, not 5 years later and more
This guy is flawed , yes, what did people think about 19.32 and 43.18?
Guys struggle to run 44.x last year

European here. First time seeing Oprah. Wow she is bad. Truly terrible.
Of course Lance would never had agreed to do the interview with someone that would actually ask the right questions and put him in tough spots.
That was so easy for him. I bet he laughed about it all the way home.
Ok, so give us some example question there Eurotrash. He already put implicating people off the table which excludes getting into details on his doping regime, which, of course would be interesting to .05% of the population. Me being among them.

Not eurotrash, but one question I think she should have brought up was after asking about the financial impact, and "have you lost everything" and Lance deflected the question into the $75 million in future endorsement earnings he lost in a couple days is:
Something to the effect of an apology not being enough, and pushed him on giving up his ill-gotten financial gains. If he cheated to win 7 tours, and get the sponsorship money & endorsement money, etc, then true remorse should involve giving up those gains.
Earlier in the interview he claimed it was never about the money, so I would have liked to see her push back on that B.S. claim and say - if the money isn't important to you, then you'll surely be returning it, and using it supplement your "apology" to many of those you wronged, no?
Of course, he never would. But I'd like to see him backpedal out of that b.s. claim. And show how hollow his "apology", and regret is.

I'm just hoping that this confession, and hopefully follow up participation, has far reaching ramifications into T&F, Soccer and the American sports. If we can get to the doping infrastructure; agents, doctors, pharmacies, then Lance could be the best thing ever to happen to sport. It’s a win/win.
Can you imagine Lance using his powers for good rather than evil? He chairs WADA and Nike gets behind him?
I’d take that deal with the devil any day.
i agree with this wholeheartedly. however, dont we HAVE to assume that science/doctors/pharma/drugs will always be one step ahead of regulators/governing bodies/government/testers simply because the payoff is greater? i mean there are a whole hell of a lot MORE good/ethical/fair accountants/bankers/lawyers than there are dirtbags but no society will ever be able to complete stamp out the dirtbags because the reward is just too tempting vs. the risk. anything short of the death penalty and i think it will always be an issue (no i dont think the death penalty is the answer, btw).
No it is bigger than that, they have to bring down the UCI and the other companies who were involved and knew the doping was going on.

Wow...I guess I must have been really cool cause I knew.. But then why did everyone(my American friends) think I was such an ahole?
I figured the 2000 victory was enhanced, but I went along with it because it seemed everyone else was in on it, so why not just go along for the stupid ride.
BUT after the second victory I thought he would be a bit sporting and back off. But no. After every win I became more and more pissed.. I suffered more than 7 years of being pissed off every August and no one believing the obvious...The familiar refrain of "I never failed a drug test" somehow worked it's magic on the minds of most Americans..
NO ONE in this country wanted to believe this about Lance, Marion, Regina, all the home run kings, etc. etc. etc. It was shameful...I was actually reviled at a sports job because I suggested that a lot of the stars we were covering were HGH whores.
As early as 95 when I was living in Europe a lot of reporters were pointing out the obvious about all the dirty athletes.
Don't forget that Carl Lewis, Mary Decker and even the great Salazar had questions surrounding this issue. And lets not forget the secret list of 20 USA athletes that were covered up just before the 1988 Olympic Games..
I just don't get people and their Disney like belief in all these fake sports heroes... I don't believe in heroes.. Now lets talk about Notre Dame...
American's wanted to believe an American was kicking the French asses at their own sport.
Does anyone have a link for the second half of the interview?
As predicted. The Lance Tear Festival.
In the totality of things, he did nothing to help his legal status or lifetime ban.
Youtube has clips Mr. Policeman.

Lemond did and nobody in the US seemed to give a sh\it.
American audiences needed the whole Cancer Jesus story for Lance to be interesting, just as they need to be spoon-fed lame sob stories by Bob Costas before they bother to watch any Olympic sports.
