I also don’t think Milligan, Cumberlands and Doane drop much, if you no other reason than reputation. IWU makes a big move. What about Spring Arbor? They race decently but lose a couple of their top 7 to transfer and one of them, beats all of his former teammates Friday. Are they still a top 5-6 team?
On the ladies side, agree with Shawnee and Rio and would add Benedictine to the list. Taylor is good. Really good. Even with Noel Vanderwall having an off day at IWU, with Malarie Pinwar now eligible it looks like they may be ready to claim what slipped through their fingers last November. It looks like thee SCAD schools lost a couple to transfer as well. I don’t see the logic of Cornerstone dropping though. On a likely incomplete athletic.net list they are 7th in 6k behind the Masters, Taylor, Grace, IWU, Marion and Benedictine and their #1 apparently didn’t race. Yes, it’s not exact having results from different courses but I think hypotheticals can lend valuable insight as long as short courses aren’t included. It’s also too early to say anything about Cumberlands on either side for a multitude of reasons.

Some freshman that still uses athletic.net thinks he knows ball. I agree that Taylor and Cornerstone women are better than they’ve shown thus far though. Also worth noting that Cornerstone sat their 1 at Wayne State last weekend.
I think we have to avoid reading too much into teams that didn’t look great in their rust buster’s. Its early and the next few weeks will give us a better idea of who’s fit and healthy.

Don’t really see how it’s AQs to lose. Didn’t do much to prove they’re any better than cornerstone. I understand IWU ran faster than the course AQ ran on but CU still would have put 4 guys in front of AQs 2 and 7 in front of their 5.

Both Cornerstone and Aquinas had respectable openers with some young guys really stepping up. IWU’s a significantly faster course and was far more competitive so your comparison means nothing. Cornerstone’s pack looks like they’re too far back right now to be competitive which has been their issue the last couple years. Aquinas’s depth doesn’t look great but looks a little stronger towards the front. Their openers seemed pretty comparable but Aquinas has proven themselves when it’s mattered the past couple years while Cornerstone has imploded in big races so I’d have to put Aquinas as the WHAC favorites right now.
Madeo has said he'll announce his new university soon. If the rumors about Sowder become true, it would be incredibly embarrassing for Madeo, and the entire Cumberlands program.
