Not me...I'm all good there. Back to my question though...do a lot of people eventually determine that being unemployed for long bouts is obviously not sustainable and must move into the professional world outside of coaching?

Not a female. They hired a athlete who just graduated.
It seems like some people on here do not get how coaching works. By the time the job is posted, 90% of the that school is already down to 3 candidates. You have to get in early and have someone calling on you behalf. You will almost NEVER get a coach job by just applying online.
I have worked for 4 different Universities over the past 15 year. For 3 of those jobs, including my most recent, I did the online application for Human Resources after being interview and accepting the position. It is about who you know and who they know.
I have been at 3 universities over the last 10 years and didn't interview or accept job until after I applied.

Guys (and ladies): Oregon HAS offered the distance position to multiple coaches and they all turned it down. Why you say? Lack of independence, micromanagement, etc. The really talented coaches who were offered the job don't need that and don't have it where they are. So why go into a situation where you are only doing it for the money.

Cost of School - Texas, 2k less on living expenses

So what's left? All the intangibles, work life balance, stress, scholarship control, working relationship among others that are all influenced one way or another by Floreal.
What isn't said/known is very powerful when lined up against the facts we do know, which when summed up:
Texas is a much much better job so what makes UW more desirable for Toby? Most roads lead to factors under Floreal's influence, that's what is so damning here.

I have coached at 4 universities in the last 20 yrs, two mid major and two power five. Three of the four I didn't interview or accept until I applied. Only 1 did I apply after being contacted.
