If Gebrhiwet had been in Kejelcha's position Mo would have been toast. HG has proven he can outkick him easily, and has proven the winning strategy, i.e. to hammer the backstretch and beat him to the turn. Kejelcha tried but wasn't good enough to pull it off just yet. You have to be able to accelerate twice.

HG first tried this in Moscow, burning the backstretch in sub 13, but Lagat jumped wide and blocked him before the turn. He accelerated again in the last 100 and closed on Farah again. Fastest from the bell in the field. Since then he's gotten better at positioning and sets up his final 300 better.

Only way Mo outkicks HG is if HG is just plain outta shape.

Caleb Ndiku went to the hospital after the race. He was spiked on his left foot in several points, and needed a medication and 3 Staples near the first finger.

Now he has to stop training for some day, of sure till Tuesday. Maybe can run 3000m in Monaco, if next Tuesday is able to put his foot in the shoe.

Fortunately he has already a wild card for WCh, as winner of DL 2014, and doesn't need to qualify in Kenyan trials (where, if he's ok, can ask to run 1500m for increasing his speed).

Thomas Longosiwa got injury the previous day (Wed), doing some sprint in front of the Hotel, and it's not sure can run Kenyan Trials.

Farah is, putting it simply, the best long distance (albeit the HM and M) runner of his generation. There is no getting around it.

He blows the field on any race situation, fast or slow… wether the africans bunch up against him or not… jog fest or fast from the get-go…

He's got lots of tools to cope with any scenario.

And that finishing kick is unmatchable. UN-MATCHABLE!

No-noo, Ndiku is the biggest threat to Farah, let him just stay healthy please.

Official 1200 split was actually 3:16.40. Something's really weird with the race video. At the trackside, they show the bell ringing and the time at around 2:59 point, but only one runner goes past, not a pack. From the high angle we see a pack crossing the starting line w/one lap to go, but the screen clock is at 3:03. Assuming the time for the first shot is right the last lap was 62 high. Seems right.

Very unfortunate incident there. I believe Yenew Alamirew intentionally spiked Ndiku when he noticed him positioning himself strongly to kick with 500m to go. Dirty running tactics from him and very sad indeed.

Ndiku is Kenya's best 5k athlete unbeaten in 2014 having disposed of Gebremeskel, Gebriwhet, Merge, and Alamirew in all occasions they met that year. Explains why the Ethiopians resorted to such sinister tactics.

Hopefully he'll be back soon enough. I really wanted to see how he'd match up against Farah. Sad indeed.
